We are booked at AKL for 7 nights at the end of October. I called to add another day. The CM said there was no availability at AKL the night I want to add. So she checked with guest services and said we could stay at the Beach Club for 8 nights. I did some quick math and it would be about $245 more to stay there. (vs staying 8 nights at AKL if they did have that option available). I have never stayed at either place, nor any Deluxe for that matter. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids ages 7 and 9. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

My initial reaction would be AKL hands down. But that is with no construction and a savannah view. Otherwise I would say your kids would love the pool at the BC and it is very close to everything. I am not crazy about BC I prefer BWI but I would say BC over AKL due to the age of your children.

Thanks for your quick response :) I am having a really tough time deciding. I want to stay at both :yay: I love the thought of being able to walk over to Epcot and SAB looks so fun. I have heard so many great things about AKL, but like you mentioned the construction does worry me.

The AKL is a wonderful place but I have to agree as far as the view and all of the construction going on there plus, you are at the farthest end of the property away from everything. The BC is in the Epcot properties and only 2 mins from Epcot and about a 20 min boat ride away from MGM plus the pool and hot tubs are awesome, not to mention all the restaurants you have access to. You can even go over to the pool at the BW and use it no one will know any different. Have you checked the BW it is a great resort and should be the same price as the BC also you could rent points from the Disboards rental site and pay around a 100-150 a night and have more than just a studio or at the very least a bigger studio than they rent to the public. My DD and I stayed there last summer and loved it I rented a DVC studio and it was great!! Plus I have the Disney Dining Card and I had free valet parking which was really nice after a full day at the parks and when we were ready to go I would just call down and they would have the car waiting for us.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your input. The BW did not come up as available. The CM mentioned BC or GF. I didn't even have her price GF figuring that would be way more. I did look at some pics of the BC and read some reviews. Some had minor complaints about the BC bathrooms being small. Are they different than the bathrooms at AKL?

Hi,

I've stayed at AKL and my boys (11,9,6,) loved the bunk beds and the animals outside our balcony, but it is the farthest resort of all. The AKL is beautiful and I probably will stay there again. As far as BC, we were just there this summer and the boys voted this resort our main resort hands down. We also stayed at the Poly and I thought that we found "Our Resort", but BC won out. The boys and hubby loved the entire resort. We were walking distance from Epcot (my boys favorite park) and a short quick trip to the Boardwalk (ESPN!) and MGM. I say go for it and you won't regret it.

Good Luck!

We love both but for us 7 days was too much at the AKL. On the other hand we could stay at the YC/BC forever!!!!
We said it was better when we went to the AKL for just a few days and then moved over to YC.
The area over there is great and there is much more to do. if you could split your stay that is what i would do. if not i would stay at the BC!!!!

Thanks for your input! So how would you compare the rooms at AKL vs. BC?

That is a really good idea. I don't mind a split stay at all. We will be renting a car, so that makes things really easy.

With the food and wine festival going on at Epcot, BC would be my choice. Having that gateway to Epcot would be great. The younger ones will LOVE the pool.

I'm a HUGE proponent of AKL, but for that time of year, the Epcot resorts really shine.

Looks like the BC is winning here. Thanks everyone. My final payment is due on the 12th of this month, so I have a few more days to decide what to do. Man this is hard!
On another note, and I am sure this has been answered many times before...does the entrance in the World Showcase open the same time as the main gates at Epcot?
