We are trying to decide between Art of Animation and Port Orleans Riverside for our upcoming trip in November. We have hit a few road blocks:

1. We already stayed at Riverside, so we are leaning toward AoA
2. Art of Animation is new and fun, we would rather stay here since its new.
3. Riverside is much cheeper.
4. We don't feel the need to have a family suite, since all we do is sleep. Otherwise we are out and about. So POR would be better for this reason too.

Please help me out and tell me what you think. Thanks in advance.

Hmmm ...Me thinks you already have your mind made up...But if this helps out I'd go w/ POR...:confused3

I'd stick you what you know for this trip. You can go and visit AoA resort when you are there and decide if you think its for you on a future trip...I am of course only assuming there will be future trips going by your signature strip;)

edited....oh and by the way POR has just had a complete refurb (nearly completed anyway!) so the rooms look new with different furnishings etc in them...

points 4 and 3 would sway to POR

I'd also be hesitant to stay in a newly opened resort as there are bound to be kinks that need to be worked out.

My husband and I were debating this very thing.. We decided on AoA for a few reasons.. One there will be a second bathroom..good when you have a family of five. And two my husband and I would actually have our own sleeping area not really "away" from the kids, but not on top of them either. I will admit that I am extremely nervous about staying at the AoA. We have stayed at POR twice so we knew what we would be expecting other than the new room decor if we went that route. With the AoA everything will be new including our first visit at a "Value" resort.

If you aren't intending to spend a lot of time at your resort and if you don't actually need the space the family suites offer, you might be better off at POR. With the new decor it might be a fresh new stay for you and your family.

The only times we will use the resort amenities (besides food) are the day we arrive (we always swim the first day) and the day we leave, depending on when our flight is.

Any other suggestions?

If you don't spend much time at the resort, then you might as well go with the cheaper option. Unless you hang in your room and can utilize the space, or spend a lot of time at the pool, then it sounds like it really doesn't matter what the resort is like so you might as well go with the "much cheaper" option of POR. Plus, I would think that AoA would be quite busy and popular for at least the first year it's open. I would rather not deal with that, plus all the kinks they will probably be working out.

If you can stay at a cheaper rewsort, and the grounds be much nicer, to me that's a no brainer...Even if you aren't spending much time there, it just offers sooo much more.. than a value.. And has the TS restaurant....LoL Have fun at POR...Hehe:lmao:
