Well, now that you said that I'm not voting! This is your opinion! Not ppl that could live in a different contienent! If I was a teacher and I knew my student did this I'd give 'em a big, fat F-! This is sorta like cheating!

Good point. We can't vote now. Mods please close this! He is cheating on his project if he is asking us. It has to be what you think, not us.

I do think that video games can affect the mind.
There are some positives and some negatives.

There are learning video games which can help children with spelling, reading, coordination, math, etc.

But then there are some negatives that go along with many video games today. Many are teaching children that it's ok to steal, rape and kill. If there is no intervention from the adults in a child's life, this is what they learn. People (children and adults) can get so wrapped up in games that they can find that the games can take over their lives and they end up living in the game. As I can attest to that since I now have dreams about VMK. :)
And go back and read many posts just in this forum about how some are affected. And this is a nice friendly game. :)

Within VMK and forums for it, I've noticed how people's spelling has been affected. Some use weak end instead of weekend, on or I instead of one and of course too or to for two and 2. And those are just a few examples.
:)

And there have been many studies done about video games and how they do or do not affect the mind. Try googling them and come up with your own opinion. ;)

It's NOT cheating.Cheating is making a nerd do your homework while you play vmk! :rotfl2:

He said science project though. He probably has an experiment to go along with this and I think it's good to have a poll of sorts of what other people think along with the data he collects with the experiment. It's not cheating, it's data.

Oh my gosh, this is not cheating. This is obviously a human studies project seeing the effect of video games on the human phyche. Yes it does. Ever heard of a little thing game called GTA. It has already been tied into several acts of violence.

If you say video games effect the mind in a bad way why do you have a picture of a DS for your avatar?

EDIT: The smilie says it all Saxsoon.

I do not think the "Mods" will be closing this thread. Also I want to add PLEASE stop calling other members cheaters or say they are cheating. Thank you.

Many science projects include the thoughts or feelings of others to complete the project.

I do not think, and I know about all the studies, that video games affect the mind of normal children or adults. I do however think they may influence the brain in a person who has some sort of mental disability.

I am a teacher. This is clearly not cheating. This is called doing research! Why would the report be valid if it were based on the experiences of a single person?

To answer the question, I think that video games do affect the mind. I often dream about VMK and sometimes replay games from my GameBoy in my mind when I am trying to go to sleep (I do these things involuntarily).

Yes, but only in a good way!

This has always been up for debate, however there have been studies which show increased analytical problem solving abilities in video game players compared to those who do not play. I actually have to say I agree. Trial and Error and thinking "Outside the Box" are two important aspects to game playing. Especially those that are puzzle / logic based. As much as I think kids should be outside playing and doing a little exercise as well, I think playing video games in moderation can be a very good thing.

Everything we do, listen to, watch hear, etc... affect our minds.

 Of course the true debate should be, does it affect us for the better or the worse? :rolleyes1

I have been playing some for of video game on a regular bassis for about 20-25 years, and I am almost completely :3dglasses normal most days. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
