My child support account has been closed. I looked up my account tonight to see *if* there was a payment in there. It states that the case #xxxxx-xx has been closed by the state. It still shows that he owes 4K arrears but they are no longer collecting any current amount due. Many of you reading this know my story. Ex owes lots of back CS. Ex does bad things and gets supervised visitation. Ex sees DD very little. Ex moves out of state. Ex brags on facebook about his wonderful relationship with all his kids..all except DD she is totally X'd out of his life. Could he terminate his rights in another state without sending me any paperwork? Could his state be handling the current CS even though we divorced in my state and that is where I live with DD? And my caseworker is on vacation.

Yes, it is possible you have a new case being handled in another state. I believe you said he was in California? However, that being said I would DEFINITELY contact child support enforcement and find out what is going on. It could be an error.

My ex lived in NY and I lived in VA. My support order was through VA and I had my enforcement case and number through them. Ex had to send payments through the state of NY and they sent it to VA but I still kept my case number. My dh had his case through CA and we lived in NC. We sent our c/s to NC and they sent it to CA. There was a linked case number in both states Does that make sense?

Call as soon as you can and find out. He might be getting a case in CA but they should still be sending it to enforcement in the state you are living in.

Thanks. I know that Ca takes the CS and send it to MT but I thought that MT would still be handling it. I left a message with my case worker even though she is stll out of town.

Is it at all possible that your Ex fraudulently got the account closed, maybe by some type of misrepresentation? I just don't understand how *your* account can get closed with no notice to you and with the Ex still owing 1000s in back CS. (I'm assuming you have flags on all your credit, identity, etc.)

Is there a supervisor or someone else in that office that can take a look at your file? Yeah, I know, might be hard (if not impossible) to get a hold of someone in the office the week before July 4th but *someone* has to have fill-in duties on cases when people are on vacation/sick/etc.

Good luck, hope you find out what's up soon.
agnes!
