I'm about 9 weeks pregnant and am experiencing all-day sickness. Any suggestions on how to feel better?

Been there, done that and I feel for ya! I had all day sickness for my entire pregnancies! It did get a little better the last trimester though. What helped me was lemons! I carried a cut up lemon everywhere I went. When the nausea hit I sucked on the lemon and it helped. I aslo used those sea bracelets. I made sure I was constantly snacking to make sure I never had an empty stomach. I kept crackers by my bed so I could have a few before getting up. Also, anything with ginger in it helps too. They sell preggy pops and sucking candy for moms that have ginger in them too. They can be found online or in most baby stores. I believe even Babies R Us has them. Good luck and remember even though you feel horrible now, it's all worth it in the end! Good luck!:goodvibes

It's so different for everyone but some tips:

Sour candies..they make a product called "preggie pops" that I believe contain some ginger and are sour..something about sour is supposed to help.

Seasickness/accupressure bands

Eating more frequently..I used to get hit if I did not eat often enough. Many find carbs like crackers (for me it was dry Cheerios) help settle their stomach

Ginger, ginger ale

Talk to your OB but mine Rx'd some prenatals with a higher amount of B6? (I think..again check with your OB as it's been almost 5 years for me) to help counter the sick feeling

I'm way too old to give you any suggestions - and I was one of those lucky people who never had morning sickness with my pregnancies - but I wanted to tell you how happy I am that you have a little one on the way..:lovestruc

What a wonderful blessing! :goodvibes :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

I had all-day sickness for my entire pregnancy as well. It was awful. I carried a bucket everywhere I went. I started to feel better just before the baby was born and I found that all I could really do was give into my weird cravings (whatever I craved seemed to make me less likely to get sick). I didn't know about the wrist bands back then but my DH uses them with great success for morning sickness.

Good luck to you - most people only experience nausea for a short period of time and hopefully you're one of them.

The good news is that there's a great payoff at the end. :goodvibes

I took (and still take!) half a unisom tablet every night (also helped me sleep) and 50 mg of B6 daily. The combo of the two really helped and kept me from getting Zofran from my doctor. Both are safe during pregnancy.

No advice, just prayers for your blessed event and .

I had all day sickness from 5-14 weeks. The biggest thing that helped me was always eating. Even when nothing sounded good, I went through a lot of baby carrots, cucumbers, and watermelon. Even now when I don't eat as often as I should I get nauseous. Preggie pops didn't work, b6 with out fail would come back up, sea bands didn't change anything. The thing that sucks about being pregnant is everyone's different. Hopefully it goes away soon!

I realize how odd this sounds, but in nursing school they taught us that lemonade and potato chips. It has to be real lemonade made from lemons, not the powder. Something about the sour and salt. Some women swore by it, but it sounds odd to me. Maybe worth a try? :goodvibes

Congrats on the little one!

Like another poster, for me the key was continuously keeping something in my stomach. Even if I knew what would happen I would eat something. Peppermints and peppermint gum helped a lot as well. I was pregnant a long time ago so some of the newer things like the seabands may work well.

While the sick feeling never went away completely I was able to function. I think I lived in fear of throwing up, I hate too. So I would get in a vicious cycle of not wanting to eat when I was feeling sick in fear I would throw up.

I tried every home remedy there was. Nothing stopped the unrelenting, all-day nausea. I finally had to get a prescription anti-nausea med from my GYN. I had a job and I *had* to go to work so I couldn't just deal with it at home. I had nausea with both pregnancies and it lasted until I started my 6th month.

This is what works for me, too. For my first pregnancy, I took half a Unisom in the morning and a whole one at night, and it worked great. This time (I'm around 8 weeks pregnant) I've added the vitamin B6 and I feel even better.

Also, string cheese, weirdly enough. I guess the bland low-fat protein was just what my stomach wanted!

Papaya Enzyme :thumbsup2

It is all natural, you just chew them up and they taste good. I used them because I had all-day sickness too. They take care of nausea, heart burn, and any other type of upset stomach. You can get it a GNC and one of the stores I went to had a small tin that you could slip into a purse. I wish I had had one of those when I was pregnant, I had to carry the bottle around.

Also GNC has some good sales. My mom used to be able to buy one and get one for a penny. I have given this advice to so many people and not all of them were pregnant. It is the best natural antacid around.

Congratulations!!

I could not drink anything except for water for the whole pregnancy. Not milk, not juice, nothing! I hope it clears up for you. I agree with others- ginger, preggie pops. Chocolate made me really queasy.

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck with the remainder of your pregnancy and mommyhood, some of the ladies on here have wonderful advise and I hope it helps you!! :lovestruc:hug:

I had hyperemesis with all three kids...and not a thing helped me except giving birth. My poor daughter had the same experience with both my grandsons. However, I did TRY pretty much everything, and one thing I read that wasn't mentioned here was to get a can of pears in heavy syrup, and drink the syrup a few tablespoons at a time until the nausea backs off. That one actually seemed to help, slightly, though I have no idea why. Ginger sometimes helped a little bit. I used to just buy the candied ginger and nibble on it, since I like it anyhow.

The best I could ever do was to keep something in my stomach at all times so that at least I wouldn't have dry heaves if I was going to be sick. Oatmeal stayed down better than anything else.

Best wishes, and I hope that you will be one of the women who move past this after the first trimester.

I was sick every second of the day until about 6 months and then the heartburn started. Warm coke and saltines next to the bed in the morning helped me feel well enough to finally get up. I lost 17 pounds the first 6 months and then finally put 16 back on the last 3 months. I had to be on suppositories almost the whole pregnancy for nausea.

 I'm sorry! That sucks! It will pass though. This wont cure it but it might help - take your prenatal vitamin at night. Those always did a number on me.

Congrats on your new addition!

I was nauseous and had no appetite pretty much through my entire first trimester with both of mine, but never actually threw up with my first, and only threw up once with my second. But before anyone tells me how lucky I am, I have horrible horrible recoveries after I give birth!

I would try to eat tiny pieces of crackers and green apples. My midwife said to eat the peels if you can't eat the whole apple, and it has to be green. I would sip ginger ale and cold herbal tea through a straw. Drinking it through a straw actually helped a lot more than trying to drink it straight from the cup.
