I am leaving for California in two days :cool1: and I was just printing out all the stuff I need (hotel confirmations, etc) and I decided to go to the Disney website and print out the hours. I had looked at them a hundred time before (HydroGuy knows that as I am an obsessive planner) and they switched Aladdin to Thursday (it used to say Wednesday!).

The only show I MAY be able to make is the 12:35 show BUT I have to be somewhere in DL for the 50th Anniversary Tour at 2:00. Plus, we plan to be in DL Thursday morning. Is it really worth it to run back and forth between parks just for a show? And, if so, will I be able to get out of Aladdin and to someplace at DL by 2?

Augh!

It's worth it, but you'll need to be outside the theater by around noon for a good seat (I highly recommend rear orchestra--don't take the 55 steps up to the mezzanine as there are show elements you miss up there, rear orch. gives the best of everything). You should be out of the theater before 1:30.

Its really not hard to hop from park to park. The enterances are about a football field a part. The only time its hard is after the light parade before fireworks, but that is a whole different subject! The show is about 45 minutes. So, you should be out by 1:30 at the latest. Then, you'll meet the tour group next to city hall, so you dont have to very far into to Disneyland.

The Aladin show is awsome, and I would try to go if I were you.

You should have plenty of time. I'd say it's a don't miss! We've seen it 9 times even though we haven't been for about a year. We like to sit in the first few rows on the far right. But that's because my DD6 can touch some of the "animals" as they come by. It's our fav. location. But you do miss some of the elements-(Don't forget to look up!) Go for it!

Does anyone have a seating plan for the theater. I am afraid I do not know where rear orchestra is located.

Thanks

See Aladdin, see Aladdin! It is always the highlight of our DCA trips. I thought only DD3 would enjoy it, but DS7 is equally thrilled. He loves the sword fights and humor. We tried the orchestra seating, but prefer sitting up higher. It was harder for the kids to see the parade of animals when we were down low. They both preferred being up high and getting a view of everything. Plus, the flying carpet was hard to see down low and it's DD's favorite part. I suggest sitting where you normally prefer to sit for any live performance. You will enjoy the show from wherever you sit.

My recomendation: When you walk in, there are seats in the front near the stage. I would guess maybe 15 rows or so? Then there is a wide aisle, a short wall and the back section of seats. You want to be in the first row of that back section. So that the short wall is right in front of you. That way you can get a good view of the elephant when it comes in, and can see the flying carpet really well. When we went in Oct we were in those first 15 or so rows. While it seems like it would be a good place, its hard to see the elephant and you are under the carpet when its flying.

Thanks for the advice, I will take it.

Better an obsessive planner than no plan at all in my book. Just remember to relax once you get to the parks and not try to hurry everyone around constantly. My family knows what to expect. Hustle for the first 2-3 hours, collect your FastPasses, and then slow down to a relaxed pace. Remember that the goal is to have fun. Let the planning arm you with all the info you need to have a fun trip. If you get to the park and then you and/or your family are not having fun, you need to ditch the plan and relax.

Also I agree with the others. You should have plenty of time for Aladdin and then be at DL by 2PM. I would do Aladdin if I were you.

Hey HydroGuy- you know me too well and we've never even met! Yes, I am going to relax on this trip if it kills me :rotfl2:

I spend my life running around- kids here, job there- but I am going to take it easy this time. I have the plan in my head (okay, and on paper too) but I will scrap it if I am not enjoying myself.

Thanks everyone for all your input, especially you HydroGuy :thumbsup2 . All these tips have made me comfortable with my trip. I just checked the weather and it looks like sunny skies and temps in the mids 70s. The only thing that could be more perfect is if we had the park to ourselves :wizard:

I leave tomorrow (I have business in LA before I hit the parks) :yay:

Don't miss Aladdin at DCA. :cloud9:

The cast is wonderful, the music is powerful, fun and jazzy, the storytelling good, Jafar is great and the FX and visuals are really cool.

The Genie is just awesome. Totally hilarious! :woohoo:

Have a wonderful visit... :wizard:
