Thanks again for all the well-wishes everyone!

laurie31. Amlee, and bamajill: We're actually going to Cullman today to visit the pumpkin patch there. Looking forward to seeing a new town.

sbclifton: I pm'ed you regarding the Space Camp movie:) Thanks!!

LuvNTravel - I was drooling over many of the Millbrook Parade of Homes too. I love our new house, but it is NOT in Eagle Rock and it does NOT have a "media room"! Just when I thought we had a pretty, new house, I go to the Parade of Homes and feel like a loser. LOL Oh...and I was online yesterday looking for good Beauty and the Beast tix and many of the good ones are gone. Did they go on sale awhile ago? Nonetheless, good seats or not, we'd like to go and check out the ASF.

Sumrmist: We went to the Eastdale Mall the other day and saw the skating rink. We will definately go back and try that out. Also, we are going to go to the train depot at the Visitors Center on a nice day. When we first arrived in Montgomery, while our house was being finished built, my DH's company put us up in the Embassay Suites - which was right across the street from the Visitors Center. Is the trolley ride safe - does it go to any "bad" downtown areas....probably not, since it is a tourist stop. Just checking because I want to go with my two little ones while DH is at work and don't want to be in the wrong spot alone.

luv2crash: My DS is on a waiting list to go to Edgewood Academy next year....but there are 5 names above his for first grade, so I don't know it we will get to send him there or not??? I can hope:)

Macrosswife: We will be going to the Space Center in December or January. Any good dinner suggestions / Good restaurants? Also, I'm in search of a good kindergarten math curriculum for Homeschooling. Any thoughts?

Thanks again ya'll! Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Most of the time the trolley just covers what would be considered the older part of the downtown area. But, it doesn't go into any dangerous areas. It mostly gets used by State employees to go up and down the hill to and from the parking lot at Crampton Bowl. (The city is bad about not forcing businesses and state agencies to build enough parking for their needs.):)
They actually have a reproduction trolley and a reproduction bus from the era when Rosa Parks did her sit down protest. And, that is in addition to the regular bus traffic downtown.

And I know what you mean about looking at the new houses. Even though ours is a perfect size for us now that we just bought, those others sure do make you kind of jealous.:) I was surprised to see one of the houses that used the same countertops we used!

Welcome! Come on up, have lunch at Rumors, and walk the wharehouse shops. Be warned that a few lucky souls up here, got their Drivers License out of a Cracker Jack box!

Hope you are loving Alabama!
I don't live there anymore, but I did graduate high school there. GO JD!
My best friend lives in Wetumpka.

Hi!! :wave2:

Regarding a math curriculum, our school uses Saxon. We actually use the 1st grade curriculum in K, and in the 3 years I've taught it, that's never been a problem. It's very user friendly, and I really feel like it does a good job teaching the basics. PM me if you have more questions!

As for a good restaurant...I have 3 suggestions!
Green Hills Grill- Much like an upscale Applebee's or Ruby Tuesdays, but the restaurant really prides itself on good quality service and excellent food. We have NEVER had a bad meal or wait staff here!! They are also very kid friendly. Obviously, this is my best recommendation! http://www.greenhillsgrille.com/

Rosie's- Mexican restaurant unique to Huntsville. I don't know that it's any better or worse than any other Mexican restaurants, but it has a very unique ambiance. Depending on when you go, the wait may be long, but once you're seated, your food comes very quickly! There is no website available.

Main Street Cafe- Located in historic downtown Madison, it's in the building that used to house the jail, fire engine, and offices for the police chief and his deputy. You can even dine in one of the jail cells. This place is less kid friendly than the others. If you choose to go, make reservations for one of the cells and go as early as possible. (256) 461-8096 PM me if you'd like a copy of the menu!

Feel free to PM me when you know when you're coming up! :cool1: DS3 and I would love to host a mini-DIS meet! :teeth:

LOL your both older than me. :p I'm class of '94.

How funny! My younger sister graduated in '94 :) This really is a small world, isn't it?

And Laurie31, I will agree with you that I bet I did have your dad!! Williamson, right?

We just had our 20 year reunion a week and a half ago and it was great seeing everyone again. Gotta love Cullman :thumbsup2

Sorry for posting late to this thread. Anyway, welcome to Montgomery. Be sure and get your Beauty and the Beast tickets at the Shakespeare Festival. We will be there December 1st. Also, be sure and go see the biscuits (Devil Rays AA affiliate) next baseball season. They just won the Southen League title in September. There is also an indoor football team here called the "Bears". They play at Garrett Coliseum. We haven't been to a game yet because it seems whenever they are at home we have tickets to the biscuits for that night. One more thing. Disney on Ice was here in spring of '05 and should be back next year at the coliseum. So make your plans now.

:surfweb: :wave2:

Well we just saw Beauty and the Beast here today. What a great play! It was definitely like having the movie come to life right before your eyes.:)
They all did a great job, and Thomas Hinds and the orchestra were great as well.
We had seats only five rows back from the stage and it was a great place to sit.
Hope all of you managed to get tickets to it, you'll love it if you did.:) :thumbsup2
