Thinking about doing a short stay with some left over points. Would appreciate any info about the dedicated Value Studios in Jambo House.

Is it two queens or a queen and sleeper sofa?
What "amenities" are in the room? Toaster, microwave, small fridge, dishes, etc?
I think the dedicated Value studios are all in the front "arc" of the resort. How convenient is laundry area if we need to wash clothes?
What do you have in the way of storage for clothes, luggage, etc?
What is the floor plan for the room and the bathroom?

Thanks for any input. Have done a 2-bedroom at Jambo, and a 1-bedroom at Kidani, so this will be our first stay in a studio. Interested in the dedicated since we have experience with them as part of a lock-off 2-bedroom.

Dedicated studios are not part of the 2 bedroom lock offs. At Jambo house, the dedicated value studios have a closet which makes them extra special, I think, a bit more room to store things.

They have a Queen bed, and a double sized sofa bed, and the kitchenette. I think they are conveniently located, and have been in about 3 different ones.

I haven't been in a vakue studio but all studios outside of OKW have a queen bed and a double sofa bed. They also all seem to have a small fridge, toaster, and microwave as well as paper plates/plasticware and mugs and glasses.

The floor plan and room for luggage I can't speak to as we haven't been in a value room and I know they are 3 feet shorter with the same furniture so my guess would be very limited suitcase space as we had to leave ours out of the closet (it wouldn't fit) when we were at Jambo house in a regular studio.

Thanks for the feedback bobbiwoz. I guess I wasn't too clear in my statement. I know the dedicated studios are just that, "dedicated." I meant our only previous experience with any DVC studio has been when having a 2BR lockoff.

The closet in the dedicated value studios is a great piece of info. The main reason I was looking at the dedicated is because they all appear to be in pairs and we would need two, so hoping to get them together.

Where is the laundry located at Jambo for those staying in DVC studios? Another good thing for convenience I know is that the value studios are close to the lobby area, and therefore close to restaurants, gift shop, etc.

I'm not sure where the laundry is, but I THINK it's near the back, the Arusha Savannah, on the left of the lobby as you face the front of the resort from the rear.
I've been in 2 value studios (the third will be next month), and they weren't really close to resturants or the lobby. Both were pool view studios. One thing I found nice was that the vanity had 2 sinks, yet BCV, for more points, only has one sink in the vanity area. I also got the USA newspaper every morning, which I enjoyed. The only thing I didn't like was that the coffee cups, although they were ceramic, were tiny. Next month I'm either bringing my own coffee cup or buying a souvenier one the first day.

I had a very confusing experience with a dedicated savannah view studio last July. I booked (perhaps five months earlier) this category. What I was placed in was a non-dedicated savannah view studio. I questioned this, and received different stories (AKL: it's member services' fault; MS: it's AKL's fault; . . . ). Finally, I was told by a manager at Jambo that, at the time I made my reservations, it was possible to book a dedicated (versus non-dedicated) studio, and that this was no longer a distinction that could be made when making a reservation.

Yes apparently "dedicated studio" is no longer a separate booking category. I can understand why they made the change because they had a very large number of booking categories at AKV. But it's unfortunate because for those booking a Value room, reserving a "Dedicated Value Studio" meant you would not get the parking lot view.

The laundry room is on the 5th floor just at the start of the Zebra trail. You will need your room keycard to open the door.

Here is a comparison of a floor plan for a Value studio next to one for a non-Value studio. The size difference is in the living/sleeping area. The Value studio does not have enough room for the storage bench so you will have less storage space. In a dedicated studio there is no connecting door so there is usually a small closet in that area but not always. Due to structural elements in the building, some dedicated studios do not have closets. Also, in some rooms the connecting door is in the living area rather than the entryway, just past the kitchenette.

Thanks LisaS. You always seem to have those floor plans handy when I'm looking and can't seem to find them again.

Does anyone know if there is a toaster in the room? For anyone who has stayed in the dedicated value studios, pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info about the dedicated value studios not being a booking category anymore, but it won't hurt to make it a request when I book my rooms. Might get lucky, especially if I try to get the rooms together.:thumbsup2

I THINK there's a toaster, but I'm sure I've got pictures at least. Once I transferred from standard view to value and here's the main difference I found-

Oh, yeah-now that I've posted, I can see the toaster in the first picture.

Hey thanks for the pics. I thought that was a toaster I saw in that first picture. Thanks for confirming.

If you are a coffee drinker, bring extra coffee. DVC only gives you a starter pack (for the one pot). BYO detergent, softner sheets etc., too. This will save $ not having to buy the packs in the laundry room. I, too, brought extra paper plates and bowls. Plastics forks, spoons, sugar, ketchup etc. can be found at the counter service restaurants. These are things I figured out after I arrived. Toaster is definitely there, and don't forget the microwave.

To OP sorry to hijack the thread....

I was hoping Lisa S would have a floor plan of the difference between a dedicated 2 bedroom and a lockoff for Kidani. We are waitlisted for a dedicated, but other than the two beds, what is the difference in layout.

Thanks for any info! I can never find a room plan for the dedicated 2 bedrooms!

No problem on the hijack, and for everyone's info, there were no value studios available the week after Christmas through New Years, dedicated or otherwise. We were able to get two standard studios in Kidani for the days we wanted, so we can begin the countdown. Now I just have to figure out how many days I have to count.......

We stayed in a value studio 5016 last June. Here's a room view, if you look close you can see the closet door by the front door.

My reservation only says "Value Studio" since they don't have separate booking categories for dedicated or lockoff studios.

However, would it be possible to make a request for a lockoff or isn't that possible neither? As we will be 3 adults in the room, I think the additional storage space would be useful.
