Help.. Age range for Zhu Zhu Pets???

I got a couple of the Hamsters for my niece who is 9. I am still waiting for them to get shipped to me so I haven't seen the box. What is the age range for these things, is she too old??? I have no clue, I started to get nervous that she is too old for them, is she?
If this is a good gift for her then don't I now need to find an accessory to go with them? If not won't they be boring? sorry I am clueless about these

I got my dd 11 (almost 12) a couple for Christmas. She loves animals and still plays with her animal toys so these are *filler* items for under the tree. I know she thinks they are cute and I know if she was still 9 they would be a favorite.

My DD9 is getting them for Christmas. She really wanted them. I told her not to expect getting them since you can't find them in the stores. I have been buying them as soon as I heard about them. I hope she will be suprised.

Ok I think that she will like these, but do I have to get an accessory now too??? If so, where the heck am I going to find one?

I wish they had these when *I* was 9!!! I have heard sightings of accessories are more common at CVS and certain TRU lately.

Shopko had them in stock as of last night as well at very reasonable prices.

At minimum I would get a hamster and a ball. I think the hamster buy itself might be a little boring.

It really depends on the child. My DD10 has absolutely no interest in them at all. Thank goodness.

I caught a snippet of a news report that mentioned them today and they said the pets were most popular with the 3-7 year old set.

It depends on the child at that age but my DD9 loves animals & wants them for Christmas. She is not into the tween stuff yet and still enjoys more of the younger toys - LPS, etc. I got her a hamster & the funhouse.

I also read that if you can't find the ball, that a regular hamster ball from a pet store will work as well. I haven't tested this but might be an option to try.
