help again please

It is quite clear that the OP is the DIS's whipping boy...er...girl du jour. Brit, you may have to step away from the DIS for a while. Every post you make, no matter how innocuous, turns ugly. USually the same couple of people with their snark, who defend themselves with "but it's a message board...what did she expect" or whatever. SO unbecoming.

Brit, if you are feeling nauseous, you can try googling "Home remedies for Nausea". I've found that ginger ale, ginger pills or anything with ginger is great for nausea. You could try Midol if it's THAT time of the month too. Maybe a little bit of toast and tea?

If the nausea persists tomorrow, yous really should go to the doctor, especially if you are actually throwing up. Try to keep yourself hydrated (drink water) if you start yakking. And sometimes, tossing the cookies is a good thing. If you ate something, your body may need to get it out. As much as barfing is unpleasant, I ALWAYS feel better after I do it, when I'm sick.

Honestly, when it gets that bad for me the best thing I have found is to just let myself throw up and get it over with. It's not pleasant while it's going on, but I normally feel 10x better after that.

As others have mentioned, anything with Ginger will help. Contrary to popular belief, Gingerale does not actually contain Ginger, but it can still offer a modicum of relief. I find ginger pills (found in the supplement section of grocery stores) to be the best. Any clear liquid is good, and sometimes carbonation helps. Sprite, Gingerale, and 7-Up are all good choices. Sometimes chamomile or other herbal tea or a warm clear broth like chicken broth can also be helpful.

Avoid milk and ibuprofen. Both of those can irritate an already upset stomach. Acetominephin (Tylenol) is gentler on the stomach and is a safer choice when you have nauseau. If it's that time of the month, try Pamprin. Midol contains ibuprofen, so could potentially make things worse. (NOTE: Ibuprofen will not have this effect on all people, but it's something to consider).

I have felt like I was going ot throw up for days, along with some trouble at the 'other end' I happened to have a scheduled appt with my GI dr who said there is a 'bug' going around with nausea and diarrhea.

Try a 'light' diet....jello, water, gingerale, sprite, toast and maybe some soup broth ad saltines.

Most likely it will pass.

Emetophilia. Quite unusual. Thanks for sharing. :)

No she didn't.
Oops, you're right. But when 'doctor' was first recommended, the OP stated she'd rather ask (anonymous, mostly unqualified) people on the DIS rather than a physician.

Frankly, IMO, even the medical professionals here would tend to refrain from offering medical advice without examining someone.

That's what I always heard when I was in college- Ginger Ale does not contain ginger but Ginger Beer does. Going onto Canada Dry's website, it does not list ginger anywhere in the ingredients for Ginger Ale. So if it is present, it would not be in a high enough quanitity to have any effect on the stomach.

Perhaps Canada Dry is different in Canada. On the bottle it says "made with real ginger" or something to that effect (don't have the bottle anymore, I drank it at dinner). Now, it doesn't say *how* much ginger it is made with.

anybody ever try jello water? i remember my mom giving it to us kids when we were sick....

That's what their website says, but when you look at the ingredients list it is nowhere to be found.
