Help, advice and thoughts on resale contract

Need advice, thoughts ... We have contracts purchased through Disney with an April Use Year. BWV, BLT & WL. Love the Boardwalk but also love BLT & WL. Looking to now buy resale. Saw a great resale contract but the use year is March. Would the 2 different use years steer you away from this contract? This resale would be the largest point total/contract that we would potentially own. BWV would be right behind it in total pts.

Are you buying more points to add to your current vacations, or will the new points be used exclusively for a separate trip?

Tough to answer. Both. We vacation in August and then sometime in the winter months. Here's what we did/are doing this year. Vacationed in December just before Christmas and will again be going in August for a week or so. Another part to "the plan" is retirement is a few years away and will continue on the same vacation schedule but the winter vacations might be longer. I realize that room size will be different but that's OK.

Do you already understand the importance of your use year? You can read up on it here, but, in general, you don't want to vacation in the last four months of your use year. A March use year would not be advisable for a December vacation.

If you want to be able to mix your points for a single reservation, you need to keep the same use year. There are ways to transfer points and you could always book separate reservations, but it gets to be difficult to manage. With multiple use years, it's like two separate accounts managed under one login.

supersnoop, Thanks for responding. Got the use year workings covered... I think. Let's try this. Lets assume we are in the "right window" to book a vacation. However in order to complete the "4 week" vacation I will need to use points from both contracts with a March and April use year. Will I be able to do this without making 2 separate reservations?

There are almost 600 contracts on the market right now, with many new ones listed every day. With a little patience, you'll find exactly what you're looking for.

I know!!! I'm getting emails constantly. I'm on the email list of every DVC Resale Company! HAHAHAHA. This one is right #of points, right price, right home resort. It's just that use year!!! If I went for it and grabbed it, we would be over 700 pts and if all the points were the same use year and it would make it easier to bank, borrow and make reservations... then waiting would be a smart thing to do. It can be difficult to book online if you need to use points from contracts with with different use years. If you aren't trying to get something popular in a high demand time, that won't matter. You can just have MS work it out for you.
