Ok, so in all the excitement of planning a very unexpected trip for WDW in Dec 09, I called WDW directly and booked with them. We are doing the Quick Service Dining Plan. I asked her if I could use AAA and she said no.
So I think I really messed up. I should have gone through AAA and booked the trip and gotten a discount on the package, right? I already made a $200 deposit with WDW. My question is, if I book through AAA instead, will I have to put down another $200 deposit today? See, now I have $200 tied up with the WDW Travel Company, which I know I can cancel. I just need to know if I will be expected to make another deposit with AAA if I try and get the same package with them today. I know I will get the $200 back from Disney if I cancel, but I'm thinking it will be a week or so before I see the refund. I really don't want to wait that long to try and rebook with AAA to get the discount. Someone please give me some guidance!

You could leave your res with WDTC and see if a code of some sort becomes available before your trip.
However, if you do want a WDTC package with a AAA discount, then yes you will have to cancel your booking with Disney and book through AAA.
You will have to make a second deposit and wait for your refund from Disney.
I don't know if AAA requires an immediate deposit or will hold the res for you a certain number of days.
Also, by booking through AAA they will own the res. Any other package changes you may need to make you will need to go through them and they have to make the changes for you.

I did the same thing last year, but my AAA agent was able to simply transfer the 200.00 over to another reservation after I signed a request of change that she faxed to me. I simply faxed it back. Disney accepted it.

Oooh, this sounds like the way to go. I check my bank account and it is already a pending debit. So much for cancelling before they processed the payment. I will call AAA and see if they can work with me on this. Thanks!

AAA will give you 14 days to turn in your deposit. Before you cancel anything though, definitely make sure AAA still has rooms available!
