Help a newbie with cancelling and banking please

Hello. I had planned a trip for thanksgiving this year, it would have been out 1st as DVC members. I don't think we will be able to go after all so I'd like to cancel and rebook for march. We have a dec uy so I know I have to bank by July 31. Is there a particular order I need to do this in? Can I still bank points from a cancelled trip?

Order is simply to cancel reservation, and then any time thereafter but by no later than July 31, bank Dec 2019 points that were previously in that reservation, and then any time thereafter make a new reservation using the banked points and any Dec 2020 points you also want to use. You could actually do all three of those in three sequential actions taken one right after the other at the same time, e.g. today you could go online to cancel the reservation; once you complete the cancellation immediately do the banking of points; and then once you complete the banking do a new reservation for March 2021.
