We will be driving to WDW in a week and we will be staying at the villas at Wilderness lodge. My question is where do we go to check in? The main lodge? or is there a separate entrance / check in for the Villas? Also how far is it from parking to the Villas? Will it be best to just have bell services grab our bags and then go park? we will be a party of 6. DH, Me, DD16, DD13, Grandpa & Grandma.

Thanks:goodvibes

You will check in at the main lodge for the Villas as well. I would suggest considering valet parking so you can assist the grandparents and make it easier for the check in process. You can always self park the rest of the trip if you want. :)

My hubby usually drops me and the kids off at the front entrance. While he unloads all the bags with the bell services, the kids and I go into check into our room. It usually works out perfectly timing wise that he finishes up unloading while I am finishing up checking in. He runs into the lobby, grabs the parking slip for the car and I tell him the room number (if we already know it - if not, he just meets us back in the lobby once he's parked the car).

The parking lot isn't way far away, but when it's at capacity, it can be a small hike from the villas. We used to valet when it was free, but now that it's not, we don't because with $12 plus tip at start and pick-up, it's almost $20, so we self park.

I self park and always have. For grandparents and family, I'd do the same in terms of dropping them off and letting them check in while I unloaded bags. Then, go find a parking spot. Is it a hike? A small one, I suppose, but given how much one walks in the parks on any given day, it's not much by comparison.
