Ok help a cruise newbie
My Dh and I want to do a Nov 2005 Cruise.
We Would want Cat. 7 on the ship but want to stay at Pop for our land part.

What i was thinking is:
Book Pop Century as I would normally do for a wdw trip We are probably doing a split stay due to flight timing.
Book Cruise cat 7 thru DU or another TA
WE will use Town car for transfer to and from airport

What are my options from Resort to ship and back to resort?

my sisters and i are cruising next april..i had the same dilemna. We went with the land and sea package because...then transportation to your ship and to the airport after your cruise is taken care of. Otherwise you'll need to find your own way to Port Canaveral. We paid a little more but we figured it was worth it...

land and sea pkg. would be fine but in order to do cat. 7 on ship we'd have to stay in deluxe that's a big differnce in hotel rates.

here is what we are doing..

we are in a cat 3 stateroom and wanted to stay at the AKL , not the GF so we booked it seperatly. i did not use a TA because i enjoy doing all of the planning myself. it worked out to my advantage because the 7 for 5 came out and i was able to get the AKL concierge that we wanted.

we declined the mears transportation because we will be at the Hard Rock Hotel in Universal before our cruise.

we are taking a towncar

from HRH to the Port
from Port to ALK

price is 180.00 roundtrip plus tip.

Usually you can do better booking separately. It takes a little time, but search around, get prices, and see what works out better for you.

I would be booking seperately
Book Room at Pop as I normally would a WDW Vacation
Use Dreams to book cruise
Book Pop for after Cruise

I have transport for Airport to Hotel figured out
I just need way from Pop Century to Port Canv. and back to Pop

Check with DCL to see if the DCL transfers pick up at Pop Century to go to the ship. My understanding is that they will drop you off at any Disney resort AFTER the cruise. Not sure about where they will pick up before the cruise. For just the two of you, the DCL transfers would be $100 and you get to ride a Disney bus to the port and watch a cruise movie on the way over and cartoons on the way back. If they pick up from Pop Century, this might be a good option. Definitely worth checking out.

Especially if this is your frist cruise you would do better taking a town car from the resort to the port. The busses get to the port usually after boarding has started. If you take a town car you can get to the port early, avoid the lines, and get on board early enough to make any spa and Palo reservations.

If you do want to take the busses and they don't pick up at Pop I think they are still doing a pick-up at Animal Kingdom - just not sure how your luggage would get over there.

Personally I would do the town car.

For our honeymoon, we booked everything separately. Our itinerary is:

MCO to Port
Port to Royal Pacific Resort (Universal)
Royal Pacific to Pop Century
Polynesian to MCO

The whole cost using Tiffany Towncar was $252 less a $15 coupon in the Cruise Passporter so $237 plus gratuity to the driver. Hassle free and you can come and go at times you decide.
We are going for two weeks, so a rental would have been much more than this. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that tip puffkin. I'll look into town car for that leg of trip also and since passporter is sitting here anyway that might just be way to go.
