Hello, I'm new to the boards, I have been going to disney since I was born. Every year my mom and I set a side 1 week and go to disney together. Well, this year I am pregnant with my first child and I will be 6 months when we go. Does anyone have any advice for me? Any ideas or advice would be helpful. Thanks

:welcome:

Our Disney for Families board would be the best place to ask your question but you are not completely registered. You need to check for an email from the DIS with a link to click. Until then you won't be able to post anywhere but this board. There is a thread at the top of this page for users "not fully registered" to get help if you didn't get the email.

I did receive an email but my husband erased thinking is was junk mail, how do I get another email so that I may have full access.

:welcome: & Congratulations!

While I can't help you with the site access I have been to WDW at various stages of pregnancy. First I'd check with your OB to see if he/she has any restrictions for you. Assuming you are low-risk and are having a healthy pregnancy there is still plenty for you to do. Since you've been to WDW before you have an idea of the rides to avoid and which ones you might think are questionable (some say Safari is fine to ride while preggo and others avoid it). I'm not sure when you'll be going but the biggest piece of advice I can give is to listen to your body. Enjoy a slower pace, take in the little details, stay hydrated, and if you feel like you need it rent an ECV. HERE is some info on going to WDW while preggo and a list of rides that you probably shouldn't ride. One ride on there that I definately agree with (even though I thought it was fine at the time) is the Indy Speedway. I rode it when I was 6 or 7 months preggo with my second I rode it. Once it was over and I was trying to stand up to get out of the car while keeping my balance with my belly throwing me off was probably a pretty comedic sight for those around me.

I also learned very quickly where all of the restrooms were.

Enjoy and think of the slower pace and restricted rides as practice for when you take your newest Prince/Princess to WDW. :goodvibes

Thanks for the tips and the ride info, I was going to ride splash mountain though, seen it was on the list, any thoughts on that one being a no-no.

Take a look at the thread at the top of this page that says "not fully registered" There are instructions there on how to get a new email sent.

I went to WDW when I was 6 mths pregnant too. I went the end of AUgust and it was H-O-T!!! Anyway, my OB's recommendation was not to ride anything too jarring like the roller coasters. Splash Mountain was just fine IMHO as was the safari. I lived on a dirt road that was bumpier than that. Anyway, other advice I would have is to stay hydrated and make sure to sit down on benches and take breaks. Also, as a PP mentioned, stop in a bathroom when you see one.:goodvibes I could go on most rides though. Ohhh...I did go on the Star Wars simulator ride and wish I didn't. It was very jarring; I would avoid that one if I were you. Again, check with your OB but as I said I went and was able to ride most rides. Have fun!

Welcome and Congratulations!! :cheer2:

I went this past August and was 21 weeks pregnant. Just take your time and drink plenty of water and rest when needed. I went on just about everything other than the roller coasters and tower of terror.
But it was also a great time to people watch, something I don't really ever do when we are there.

I rode Splash Mountain and had myself braced with my knees. We have the ride photo of my (then) three year old sitting next to me with my big preggo belly and DH behind us. I'm guessing I was 6-7 months pregnant and felt fine doing that ride since I had a low-risk healthy pregnancy and was still very active. I found Snow White to be just as bumpy as some of the "forbidden" rides and went with what I was comfortable with. I also spoke with my OB and since she had been before she and I could discuss various rides.

I was 7 months preg last time and ended up getting sick right in the middle of MK! However, that was completely my fault b/c on our hottest day I was running around like a 20 year old non preg person (and I wasn't anywhere near 20) without eating or drinking anything. I was stupid. Other than that, I had a fantastic trip and did very well. Stay hydrated, sit when you need it and enjoy the time in the restaurants with no child dropping food on the floor :rotfl:. I did safari and Star Tours and found them to be fine; but I did follow the suggestions for all the other rides. I am so excited to do Splash Mountain this time. It is my favorite and I didn't do it last time. Oh! And I did even enjoy a couple yummy frozen drinks by the pool during the trip too !Enjoy! ;)
