I am currently holding a Cat 4 for the Dec 19 4-Day cruise (Dec 04!)...the cost is $2,700 for 4 of us. I REALLY want to do the Dec 10-day that departs Dec 18 (again, '04), and have it on hold with DU. But I was FLABBERGASTED at the cost!!!!! A bit over 10K for the four of us!!!

Somehow, the Dec. 19 sailing must not be considered PEAK and the 10 day is...thus the $325 difference A DAY for the cruise!

So...all of you veteran cruisers, what are the main differences between the 4-day and the 10-day (or since this is the first 10-day, how does its itinerary compare with a 4-day)???

What is your advice? Stick with the inexepensive 4 day (Dec 19-22) or go for the bank-busting 10-day (Dec 18-27)?

THANKS!

As one fellow Washingtonian to another, we have done the 7 day cruise twice and loved it. Can't imagine even getting unpacked in 4 days!

But I understand the 10 day cost...we have booked for it and will be saving our pennies for this once in a lifetime Christmas. We have a catagory 10 through Costco at around $6000. The added ports are a big draw to us since we have been to all the "usual" stops.

Good luck on your decision - hope to see you on board!

Hi 2belles'mom,

We've done 3, 4 and both 7 day cruises and are booked on the 10 day (Hi two4ruff we'll be sailing again).

The 4 day cruises are nice, but you feel like you are getting off right as you are knowing the ship. Also the 4 day has either Nassau and a day at sea or Nassau and Freeport.

I don't think those ports can compare at all to the ones that the 10 day will be going to (in addition to having three days at sea). Yes it is expensive and your money could go much further at the parks.

The choice is really up to you. I hope you decide to join us it looks like it will be a great cruise with lots of DIS'ers on it!

We are booked for the 4 day December 19th, 2004 cruise also. We plan to visit WDW for 2 days after we get off the ship.

This cruise IS considered value season, and I was thrilled to be able to book a 'Christmas Cruise' for my family without having to pay the holiday prices. Of course I would love to spend 10 days on the ship, but I bet you could go and enjoy this lovely 4 day Christmas Cruise on Dec. 19th and book ANOTHER 7 day cruise during value season for the next year and still have money left over compared to what you would have paid for the 10 day cruise.

Don't know when your kids go back to school after summer break. But in NY its after Labor Day. You could do two 7 day back to back at the end of August for the same price as the 10 day cruise. May want to check that out. ALthough I agree with a previous poster a 4 day is too short. So if your choice is 4 day or 10 day. Go for the 10 day.

Thanks for all of your responses....you have helped give me something to think about! I still can't decide. The good news is that either way, it looks as if there will be some DIS'ers on board!

two4ruff--I may look into Costco, do they still rebate 10% on cruises??

Mjasp--the August timeframe is, unfortunately, tough for us due to my schedule and DH. Really tough for us to get large chunks of time off in August...sigh...
