Help...1st Time to Poly

We are leaving for Disney in 3 weeks and will by staying at the Polynesian for the first time. I have 2 dd (4 & 6) and would appreciate any tips for an awesome stay at this resort. Ie. which building, floor, places to eat, pool info etc. I have heard so many great things about this resort and don't want to miss anything!

I don't remember which building we were in, but my DBro and I stayed in a building close to the TTC. You can walk to the monorail quicker from there and hop on either the express or the monorail or you can hop on the boat. You can also get on the monorail that goes to Epcot and we were close to the boats. We were about a five minute walk to the Grand Ceremonial House.

The Polynesian has a great character breakfast. Lilo and Stitch at Ohana; make sure you make reservations. Swimming pool has a slide that does through a volcano. Make sure you on are the beach some evenings, you can see electrical light parade, and MK's fireworks. The hotel is great, super relaxing!

Congratulations! You will love it! As far as where to stay, that depends on where you want to be. If you want to be near the food/shops/monorail etc., I recommend either Raratonga or Samoa. You can request one of these longhouses, but it is not a guarantee. There are two pools-the Volcano pool and the quiet pool. Near the Volcano pool is Capt. Cooks which is the quick service food area. The Great Ceremonial House is the main building where you check in and where you will find the restaurants and shops, and on the second floor is the monorail.

You should check out the Polynesian thread here in the resorts category. There is a ton of great info and pictures. You should find way more info than I could provide.

Just checked out today. We were in Tokelau (std view) on the 2nd floor. All rooms there have a balcony (the older bldgs have no balconies on the 2nd floor). It's close to the laundry room & club Neverland, & the quiet pool. It's pretty equidistant from the ttc for Epcot monorail and the gch. If being closer to the gch & MK monorail is more important to you (thinking that could be the case with the ages of your kids), you might want to pick something closer to the gch (like Samoa or Raratonga). I would also get the refillable mugs as soon as you check in if you like fountain beverages &/or coffee. Plan to view electric water pageant & Wishes from the volcano pool/beach. That was probably my fave. Way better than fighting your way out of MK after the show. Happy planning!!

We stayed in Samoa and loved the location. It was very convenient as we were just steps from the GCH, the volcano pool, the beach, and Captain Cooks. One thing I loved to do was relax in a hammock on the beach listening to the boat whistles as the boats went back and forth to MK . It was also great watching fireworks from the beach and walking around at night under the lit tiki torches. The Poly is such an amazing resort.....you're going to love it .

Please have a wonderful time! I am staying there in Oct and I am really looking forward to our trip. We stayed there once before and loved the monorail access and being close to the TTC. The walk was short to the TTC from Tahiti, so if that is important, keep that in mind!

The resort has a wonderful, relaxed feel to it.

I have no negatives to say about our stay. I really felt it was just a perfect experience and it went so fast.

While on the beach facing the water... try the following...

Stop moving.
Close your eyes.
Listen to the sounds of a boat driving by, or kids laughing at the pool.
Smell the lovely scents around you.
Take in a deep breath.
Think "I'm here."
Smile.
Open your eyes, facing the castle...
exhale.

Repeat as needed to have a wonderful vacation.

Everyone has different needs and therefore my advice for a building, might not match your family's needs. Take a look at Tikiman's website suggested above...he really knows his stuff and is so friendly!!!

One thing, the hardest thing.. don't stress.

Electric Parades are at 9:00PM. The fireworks show is 10:00PM. Sometimes EP is at 11:00PM. But the times can vary, and some evenings some shows are not scheduled. Here is a link for the times: http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours/augfw13.cfm

I second Samoa for closeness to volcano pool and Captain Cooks for refillable mug drink location. Also close to monorail location. But really, this is a small resort and nothing is far from anything. It's just that Samoa is really really close to pool, Captain Cooks, and monorail.
