Help 16 yr. old getting scared and running to sleep with mom and dad??

the last 3 nights my 16 almost 17 yr. old has been getting very scared in the middle of the night and running to our room and sleeping with us...she says that someone keeps screaming her name...


we have lived her for 5 years almost 6 and have been working on the house from day 1. her room is done and has been for about 3 years. I'm confused. she told me yesterday that there is an old woman in her room and she doesn't like her.

I can't figure this out I mean all of a sudden this happened.

However I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that she found out her father's family wants to see her after 15 years. now that I typed this out and see when it started..it didn't occur to me to til I typed it out.

Poor kid. I bet that's it. I thought you had not decided if you were going to let his family see her.

I did but i wonder if all this is over whelming her? KWIM?

ETA: i believe in ghosts just that I don;t think our house is haunted. Like a said we have been here 5 almost 6 years and nothing. plus the people that lives here before us were her grandparents.

let me just say I don't want to believe in ghosts....but growing up there was something disturbing in my old bedroom as a kid... there was always a presence...I saw eyes a night etc ...never had a restful night sleep... what made me realize that I wasn't imagining it ...was one night my cousin slept over...she was 2years younger than me... so I was about 16 she was about 14.... I never told her or anyone about what I had experienced.... well she woke me up freaked up,, because she said that she woke up to find a male sitting at the edge of our bed.... and he disappeared.......
years later in the same house I later found out my mom and sister had seen a lady dressed all in white walking thru the house.... and other things too.....


after i got married and moved out of that house.... I have never seen or been bothered by anything........

FWIW I had night terrors in my teens up until I was almost 20yrs old. I'd wake up just out of my mind with fear. It's a kind of terror I can't even describe. My sister was in the same room and I'd wake her up trembling and crying but couldn't put it into words. The stress of your DD's father's family may have triggered something similar.

After I typed it out a light bulb went over my head. I have been trying to figure it out for the last two days till I typed it and umm DUH! sometimes I'm a little slow! my dh and I were talking about it last night even and he said that he saw the fear in her the night before and couldn't do anything but let her climb in bed... he is such a sweet heart..

I'm going to talk to her when she gets home from school. I'm almost in tears after I figured this out... I feel bad it took me two days to realize this...

I'm sorry, I missed the thread about her seeing her birth father's family. Does she say she wants to see them? If she doesn't then I would not force her to see them after all this time. It sounds like it is working on her subconscious.

She needs to talk to someone, does her school have a social worker? Or look for a good family therapist. Poor thing!

I'm sorry, I missed the thread about her seeing her birth father's family. Does she say she wants to see them? If she doesn't then I would not force her to see them after all this time. It sounds like it is working on her subconscious.

She said she wants to meet them to ask why and other ?'s...but I think they need to get comfortable with them first. which is why I won;t let them see them yet. I said they could talk to them via face book and phone for now.

I am going to see if the school councilor can talk to them both.
