Hi everyone....

I haven't been very "present" here since my move to SC in May....we've just been trying to settle in, get back onto some normal schedules, etc...

I've been on and off with my low carb lifestyle for the past 2 months. But I have realized how awful carbs make me feel (particularly sugar and white flour) and I definitely need to make this a permanent diet change.

I hadn't really been watching my carbs over the past week...and knew I made a few unhealthy choices. I assumed that my unusual tiredness was due to these indiscretions. But then I really paid attention to what I ate for a couple of days....and I wasn't eating anything that should make me feel tired...but I was tired. Very tired. And I was being overly emotional. And having mild nausea.

Those of you who are moms know what that means! LOL My diet wasn't making me tired....it was this new baby who has decided to join our family quite unexpectedly!

So now I'm onto a different adventure....keeping a healthy carb moderated diet while pregnant. I'd like to stay with Atkin's lifetime maintenance....but I don't know the # of carbs I should stick to so that I'll be nourishing myself and my baby properly. I did find the Brewer Diet for pregnant women....looks similar, but I think the carbs are rather high (4 cups of milk and 5 servings of whole grains per day...in addition to vegetables, cheese, fruit...probably about 120g total depending on choices..) otherwise it looks very reasonable. I suppose that may be a reasonable amount of carbs if they're all healthy ones for a pregnant woman though. Perhaps I'll try it and see how I feel. Being 50+lbs overweight I can safely not gain weight during this pregnancy....but only if I'm eating very carefully. Not that I'll worry about weight gain if it happens while I'm eating healthfully....

I also would like to begin a moderate exercise routine. Labor and birth are hard physical work and I'd like to be in better shape. I'm fairly sure my back pain in my last labor was related to weak muscles/support (and a posterior baby...right up until transition).

So anyway....perhaps I'll keep checking in with how my healthy pregnant lifestyle is going....I'd love to connect with anyone else in the same situation too!

Wish me luck! (oh, guess I should take off my clippie...no weight loss challenge for me right now!)

hmmm...can't seem to take the clippie off....says I have too much in my sig line after I do it (which makes no sense since I'm removing something!)

Congratulations, I can't think of a better reason for not losing weight! Isn't there a saying "new house, new baby" ?

Libby

Congratulations, Lesley on your new house and baby. I'm sorry that I don't have any information for you, but maybe someone else will.

God bless you, best wishes, and encouragemet, RaySharpton (insert smiley face here...lol)

OH MY GOSH, CONGRATULATIONS, LESLEY!!!!

I am so happy for you! I have missed you alot and I was wondering where you were. Well, getting settled into the house and DISCOVERING you are pregnant are two good reasons to be absent from WISH!

I hope you will check in often to let us know how the pregnancy is going. That Brewers Diet sounds like a really healthy way to eat throughout your pregnancy! :) Good luck! ;) I'm sure you will find a way to sneak in some safe exercise so that you'll have a comfortable delivery.

Thanks for sharing your awesome news! WOO-HOO!!!! Hope you get to post here a little more often. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers!

Thanks everyone! Actually we don't have a house yet...we're in a 2br apartment right now. A house has been in the plans though...I guess we really need to get on top of that now! We had thought we'd aim for an end of March closing on a house....but that won't really work now (well, I could go to closing, I just couldn't actually move into the house then).

Thanks again!
