My DD is 13 and wants to start babysitting to earn money...for Disney of course! :wizard:. She is going to the Red Cross training class and get a certificate, but the class isn't until April. She was wondering how much she should ask parents to pay. How much do you charge?

i never really say what my price is. I would just get what they gave me. Because if i said a price then they might just give me that, but they could give me MORE. lol. Id say, 5 dollars an hour. Depending on how many kids. I never got jipped on pay and i didnt want to limit myself to only 5 dollars.

I've been babysitting since i was 13 (5 years now) and I just get what they give me. Sometimes I make more than needed, and then other times I get jipped. But I had a this one job babysitting 2 nights every-other weekend making $40 per weekend for one kid. And then there's another family I babysit for and just get about $5 per hour per kid (2 kids). So it just varies by how long, how many kids, and where you are. I read a survey in a magazine a couple years ago taht a going rate in like NY was $8 per hour or something...I wish it was that here in Montana. Hope that helps. :)

We give our sitter $5.00 an hour plus I usually throw in an extra $5.00 because she is really a great sitter. And my DS loves her.

My friend and I babysit together and charge 3 dollars per person an hour

i've never set a rate either. i've always told parents to pay what they feel is right, and i've never been jipped. If they ever paid me something I felt was too low, I would tell them so, but it's never happened yet. I've earned from 5 to 10 dollars an hour, depending on the parents and the number and ages of the children.

I Babysit a 9 year-old, and I get paid about $20 for 2 hr, but if it on a school night I get paid a little more b/c I have to watch her and do my homework at the same time. That is kinda hard though b/c she is very wild.

I just got two new babysitting jobs today from ppl who go to my church, both are teacher's there, the first woman, I kno her very well, says she pays 10 dollars an hour for the three kids, the youngest daughter is mentally challenged but I am used to her because I have babysat her before, and then the other woman hasn't made any offers yet but I usually just charge 5 dollars an hour. The kids range in ages from 8 years to 8 months.

I usually got payed about 5 dollars an hour from a family I used to babysit, but sometimes, if it was late or if all the kids were there, I was payed more.
