hello - new poster here

Just wanted to say hello. I found the dis a few months ago when researching all the FP+ changes and cakes. I signed up but haven't done much posting yet. I was raised in central FL so I've been to Disney more times than I can count, but we moved to the northeast about 15 years ago so trips still happened, but less frequently, until my parents got a unit at the Visana Resort. Now we go about every year for F&W/MNSSHP/HHN. Now that the family is all adults with incomes, we've been spending time on things we couldn't do before, like table service dining. The Dis has been helpful on updating us on all the changes since we moved away and giving good restaurant reviews. I decided to start posting because we've got 2 trips coming up - late Oct and Jan and I'm hoping to at least repay the cake thread by posting pics of a custom cake we have planned to surprise my parents in Oct (if I can ever get it ordered) and to volunteer some of my extensive knowledge of other parts of Disney (like rides and resorts - we stayed in tons, but yacht and beach clubs were our favorite because of the pool, and general central FL knowledge. we're also big fans of minigolf). We are on the side of those who think service has gone downhill over the past decade or so and continues to deteriorate, but so far we keep coming back because we do really enjoy F&W and the Halloween events. Hopefully service will go back to the way it used to be, when questions were met with offers of assistance rather than hurriedness and (sometimes) snark. It's nice to see boards that remain positive and helpful so thanks, in general, to the community for your help so far and I look forward to participating more and posting info about my trips when I return!
