Hello from OK!

Welcome from Long Island, NY! Enjoy learning all about Disney here!

My son lives in Moore (a long way from his 'New Hampshire home")!!
He was stationed at Tinker AFB and decided to stay in the area.

That's how my husband ended up here too! He was stationed at Tinker when I met him. The cost of living here is so low, it makes it hard to move out of state. :yay:

I completely forgot to post:

One of my former student's mother is the Chief of Staff for Oklahoma Homeland Security, so I grilled her about the passports/REAL id. She said a valid Oklahoma driver's license will suffice for domestic travel. Oklahoma has applied for and received an extension, so a passport is not necessary for domestic travel before December 2009. Hope that helps!

Wow, didnt realize so many dissers were from OK! We live in Enid and will be heading to the world in 22 days! :cheer2: I agree with OPs who stated we stay for the cost of living. Its easy to live debt free on one income in Ok!

I bought my first Crocs! Well, not really, I had the flip-flops last summer. I think they're hideous, but I wanted a non-tennis shoe in case it got too warm to wear my N7s at WDW. Well, I decided to take a look around Dillard's at Sooner (Fashion) Mall in Norman. The Mary Jane Crocs are $7.49!! If you can convince yourself to wear them, head to Norman!! They may be on sale at the other Dillard's locations, too, but I don't know for sure.

I just cant force myself to do the crocs...Im planning on bringing a couple of pairs of tennis shoes and am currently looking for a pair of flip flops that are comfortable for all day wear..any suggestions??

Have you looked at the Bath and Body Works flip flops? I love them...their like the crocs which but I refuse to wear since I hate the looks of them. Same feel...and much better looking since their flip flops.

Now, I have to admit the Mary Janes are much cuter then the regular crocs.

Welcome to everyone new. Hope you all have great trips.

As for the cost of living keeping people here...not me. I am leaving as soon as I can. Cost of living is not enough to keep me here. Sorry. I will always be a Sooner fan but I'm not doing it from here.

I really wanted the Alice ones (they look like real Mary Janes without the double strap and those crazy holes), but they didn't have my size. I'm going to check out Penn Square Dillard's this weekend (and use my Coach invitation!!!:dance3: ). I still refuse to wear the original Crocs. Never. Ever. They have high heels, too. HIDEOUS!!! Something about the comfort of a Croc and the high fashion of a pump. Now that really is a crock!

Anyway, for $7.49, I won't feel bad if they end up in the back of my closet.

Oh, and for comfy flip-flops...you probably can't afford these if you work in Oklahoma (boo!), but they are little clouds for your feet!!

My ex-boyfriend's sister works at Saks, so she used her discount. I had an earlier style, but these look nearly identical.

Oooh! These are nice, too!! And they're waaay more reasonable!

Anything from Reef is pretty darn comfy, and you can find them at Dillard's and probably PacSun and/or Journeys.

Can you tell I'm ready for flip-flop season??

What is the key to a comfy flip flop? I mean I have all the colors from old navy but those are just some thin foam..what should I look for?

I wanted to add my two cents about Crocs and flip-flops. My mom went with us two years ago and wore her Crocs. After they got wet, they were slick. She didn't wear them again and I decided not to take a chance either. I would try them out before going (give a soak with the water hose and walk around for awhile). Even flip-flops get slick. My mom went back to the room and changed shoes because the bottoms of her feet hurt from sliding around. Screaming, aching, blistered feet are NOT what you want at Disney! :scared1:

Also although the crocs are really comfortable they can get very sweaty in the hot Florida days. Just an fyi!

I didn't like Old Navy's flip flops last summer!! I wish they'd go back to the old ones!! Mine are definitely on their last summer.

I just look for a bottom like a tennis shoe. Not flat, but kind of comes up around your foot. At one point, I probably had enough Old Navy flip flops to open a shoe store, but they have no support. Even after a day of shopping, the bottoms of my feet feel like they've been rubbed raw. Support is the main thing I look for in a substantial flip-flop. Reef styles are made for surfers, so they stand up to water, and you can avoid the slipage!! :thumbsup2

I looked at the Reef styles..what about the toe part? Will they rub to cause a blister? Sorry for all the questions..I just am trying to figure out the most comfy thing for my feet!

I've never gotten blisters from Reefs. The only problem I've ever had with Reefs was when I was on a trip with friends. I borrowed a (guy) friend's Reefs to run around in, and the straps were wider and rubber the top of my foot. If you stick with the girl styles, you should be ace!
