This website has quickly became a favorite of mine and after browsing for a few weeks, I decided to register.

We will be in Disney in 3 weeks! It is so exciting to go on our first real family vacation since my son has been born. My dsd is 15 and my ds is 3.

The last few years have been rough financially. I was in nursing school when I found out I was pregnant, and it so happened that my husband was laid off at that time. Well, I graduated last May with my BSN, had a job before graduation (thankfully there is a decent market in our moderate size town), and have been saving since.

We are renting a car to drive down (my car is just too small to be comfortable). We'll leave Friday night and drive straight through. We'll rest on Saturday. Sunday-Friday will be 6 days of parks, one day at each, MK X2, and then go to our favorite again. When we check out Saturday we'll head to the Gulf or ocean (haven't figured that much out), drive until we're tired, get a hotel, and finish the drive on Sunday.

We are staying at Residence Inn Seaworld.

Any suggestions or advice?

Welcome to the DIS. :thumbsup2 Here is a little info for you. We have found out that if you go to AK later in the day it is less crowded. We go around 2:00p.m. Have fun.

:welcome:

My best tip is to avoid the urge to cram everything into one vacation. It's easy to get caught up in the madness of wanting to see and experience every attraction but it's better to just enjoy yourselves.

Welcome from another Indianian. We are down here on the southern border and going to WDW in March Also! This will be our 2nd trip but the one thing I do remember from the 1st time is not trying to do it all at once pick a few of your favorites from each park and then work the others in if you have time. ENJOY it's a Vacation and you will definitely feel the WDW magic no matter how much or how little you do!

Hi,

I'm from Indiana too, NWI. To echo another post - don't try to do it all. Read up on wdw before you go - you can check out books in the library or browse in borders or barnes and noble if you don't want to buy anything.

My tip - If you want to take a break, take a bus or the monorail and visit some of the resorts. To differ from another poster - I got to AK early and am usually gone by noon or 1 pm. Whatever you do, relax and have fun in the sun.

Thanks everyone! I have a small map that was sent and have been trying to plan out the must-dos, try-to-dos, and not important if we do.

I've been before, but it's been a long time ago. My grandparents lived in Tampa, and every other year we would do DW, BG, Universal, etc. So I've been several times (how many ???) but the last time was 13 years ago. I'm sure lots has changed.

If someone could chime in with a couple of answers to questions I have it would be great. I've read a lot, and haven't quite figured them out.

1. If you bring in drinks and snacks, do you carry them? With an ice pack, or do you just get ice from a vendor?
2. Do the fireworks at MK go off every night at close?
3. Where exactly is the calendar for EMH? I've ran across it a couple of times in my reading, but forgot to bookmark it and can't find it now.

1. I did not do this last time but I have read other post where others have and no-one has mentioned anything other than using a soft lunch bag type to bring items in as igloos are not allowed...maybe someone else will chime in.

2. You can go to the www.waltdisneyworld.com website and look at the bottom of the web page there is a link to park hours to find the hours for which park you want to go to and beside the hours it will show EMH hours.

3. The fireworks normally go off earlier than closing when we are there in March it's scheduled for 10pm and park closing at 11pm. But again you can go to the park hours and then click on the actual park Magic Kingdom and look under that days entertainment schedule to see posted times. Be forwarned I have been told the hours can sometimes change so check it before leaving for your trip so you don't get surprised.
