Hi every body, curious to know how many brits are using this site and bought into the Disney dream. I've read some disparaging reports about SSR which we brought into the end of 2005 and i don't care, i'm coming over every year and thats all i care about. So they don't do room service big deal just means we're have to go out every night and eat thats what we're on holiday for, see you all in December 2006 :cool1:

Not a brit but hello anyway. Every year......that has nice ring to it. :thumbsup2

Hello,
We are from Kent near Maidstone , practically neighbours :wave2: . My dad's side all came from Reading, my GT GT Grandfather worked at the Huntley and Palmer Biscuit factory in the 1880's.
I agree entirely with your sentiments, we bought into SSR in Sep 2003 and have no regrets whatsoever we love  the place, and I am not worried at all if there is no room service or valeting, as you say we're on holiday and also enjoy eating out, the stroll round the lake to DTD is most pleasant and helps give you an appetite, you can of course order in I suppose, there is a phone in the room if you want to order a takeaway.
We are going to SSR in May by ourselves and then again in November with our daughters cannot wait. :bounce:
Just out of interest, because you are from the UK do you pay your annual fees in one lump sum or perhaps do as we have done and opened up a US account so that we can pay monthly?

What a small world and i don't mean the ride my wife is from Ditton and went to school in Aylesford. As we are very new to DVC we pay our due's in one lump sum on the worst day of paying anything the 15th of january, would love to know how you opened your account in USA can you do it online or do you need to do it over there

Hi!
I'm not from England, either, but my husband grew up in Chicksands, which is near Bedford, I believe. So I hear lots of stories.

We bought at SSR and spent four nights there in Feb. and had a wonderful time. My DS7 fell in love with Disney Quest at Downtown Disney, and the rest of us fell in love with Ghirardelli's Ice Cream.

If you need tips on which building to stay in and that sort of thing, please don't hesitate to ask. Fun to share what we've learned.

Hi london1973, and welcome to the DISboards! :)

You know, when I read your original post, I honestly found myself reading it with a British accent! :teeth:

Hi, I'm not from England have english in me though. Welcome to the DIS. Stay around and enjoy yourself here.

Hello from across the pond...Love your accent by the way :rotfl: Wish I could vacation in England every year. You're very fortunate! Best wishes.

Welcome and there is a DVC UK forum also. Don't worry about the reviews of SSR, every resort goes through the phase.

No resort will please everyone. We have stayed at all of them many times including SSR and like it very much. :thumbsup2

Hi, im a DVC member from England, Bedfordshire way. We joined last November so its all still fairly new to us, with our first trip home January 2006, which we throughly enjoyed.

Hi

We are DVC members from Warrington, Cheshire, UK. The resort we have bought into is OKW, my dad is also a member and I look on the American side of the Dis Boards quite a lot.

Welcome to the boards. We are not from England but were able to visit London and Cambridge for the first time last July. We had a GREAT experience and are looking forward to going back sometime.

We still couldn't get the Disney out of us, even abroad. My wife managed to find the Disney store in Cambridge and Paris. Our DVC 10% discount did work at those locations :)

What a small world this is (excuse the pun) we are also from Kent. Isle of Sheppey and have been owners at Old Key West for quite a few years.
We always pay our dues in one lump sum but would love to know about the paying by instalment and look forward to hearing how to do this.
If our new bridge to the Island gets finished should be able to see Maidstone from the top.

Hello from sunny Wouldham near Maidstone not to far from Sheppey.

To be able to pay by instalments you need to have a US bank account, it is very difficult to do this from the UK as you need to fill in online forms with zip code and social security number etc. We did it on our trip in 2003 when we bought into SSR, we were advised to use Suntrust bank, all that was required was a passport and possibly another ID and $100 to deposit, the account was opened in half an hour and we passed info to DVC allowing us to pay by instalments, so much easier!

A tip if you do, ask for electronic statements only or you will be charged $5/month to receive them through the post.

Hi,

The world just got smaller! We are also DVC members in the UK, Skallywag, we also live on the Isle of Sheppey!!
We own at Vero Beach and have been members since 2002. Next week we leave for our trip to our favourite DVC resorts, VB and OKW.

(Won't you be so pleased when the Bridge is finally finished?!)

Karen

A couple more DVC owners here, we are in the Channel Islands. :wave2:

We pay our dues in one lump sum, using our Virgin credit card. In fact, we use our Virgin card for pretty much everything. Our flights in April are paid for entirely with Virgin miles, PE out and UC back for the two of us. Oh, and we still have miles left over..! :rotfl2:

Hi more UK members from Wiltshire. We own at BCV and we pay our dues online by CC. In fact we bought, sight unseen in 2002, using our CC and paid when the bill came in.

Does anyone know how many UK citizens are DVC members?
