Hi! This is my first post as a DVC owner! DH and I bought 220 VGC and 100 BLT points on our recent cruise. We got a great-for-Disney price ($96 and $105 pp + $500 obc) and the 2010 points with a Feb UY. We have 3 kids (12, 10, and 3) so many years of going to Disney left, and a healthy interest in cruising. We vacation yearly, with a big vacation every 18-24 months as well.

We've been researching DVC for a couple of years and because we love to vacation, we've taken the plunge. We anticipate split stays at BLT and the campgrounds (I like my luxuries, and I like camping. We can do both!)

We are planning a trip in Spring-Summer 2012 of driving from Toronto to California. We are going to be purchasing a RV next spring and are planning a 28-30 day trip there and back, mostly camping along the way, seeing and staying in some National Parks, visiting DL, and family in San Francisco. We're going south on the way there and then west, and on the way back north before heading east. We will travel through 18 states! We're totally excited! (We've done big trips and camping before with a pop-up).

My question is this: We are planning on visiting VGC for 3-4 nights. Will we be able to park our RV there? Is is 31 feet long (so a little shorter than a bus). If not, is there a place nearby that we can? We really would prefer onsite for security reasons.

Thanks in advance!

A quick call to the Grand Californian front desk would get you a definitive answer. DL does have oversized parking (tractor trailer, anyone?) directly across the street from VGC at the Mickey and Friends parking structure/lot on the surface lot area. I know that they offer multi-day oversized parking there. There are campers, buses, RV's, and even tractor-trailers parked there for days on end. There is a charge for the parking, though.

I see you have advice above so just saying Welcome! And if you pass through New Mexico on your big trip wave as you pass :)

Do you mean the Paradise Pier parking garage? That's the structure directly across the street from the VGC, and it may have oversize parking. I've never asked about it. The Mickey and Friends lot, which does indeed have an oversize lot, is a bit down the street, basically the distance of the disneyland park. I've tried to make a map.

At any rate, the one thing I do know is that the Grand Cal lot is way too small for an RV! Probably best to call the hotel.
