Hello From a New Board Member and Owner

Hi there!
My husband and I just signed our contract for a SSR contract on Sunday! I'm so excited. We've been talking about it for about a year now and the 100 point minimum made it doable.

I know people have different opinions on buying SSR through Disney vs resale but for us it was a good fit. We were more comfortable and got a better/easier loan than we would have otherwise.

I need to figure out how to add a Signature and a cool SSR banner thingy.

Anyway, HI! and I can't wait till we get our deed and everything is done and official.

Yes, we did get the full 2009 points which I was excited about. Most of the resales I had been looking at for the past few months in our price range did not have any banked points.

The only issue is that we booked a Disney vacation through AAA for this September and it's not worth the money we'd have to spend on dining to cancel it so now we have to use the 2009 points by July of 2011 which will be hard for us so I think we might do a cruise for our anniversary since we'd never spend the cash to take a Disney Cruise. It's a bit of a "loss" but not really since the 2009 points were free.

Oh I know! I have a family member who has added on (maybe twice actually) since September! Crazyness.

Plus we stayed in a 1br at SSR last year after being upgraded due to an oversell or something at the resort we were booked at so I'm already craving more points to use the jacuzzi tub!

Funny.. We are in a very similar situation. I almost bought in this week for our late Aug/early sept trip. We got such a good deal through AAA an the resale prices are so cheap I backed out... I want to buy very bad, but I can't justify the additional cost of direct right now. The only reason I was going to was because they could have gotten me in to the TH for our trip this year. If there was a promo on SSR I would be an owner right now... :-(

Wonderful idea to use those points otherwise lost. If you haven't yet sailed on DCL, you'll have a great time. It's my favorite Disney vacation.

SSR is a beautiful resort, I just love the wide open spaces. Also the resort has a wonderful table service restaurant, The Turf Club. And soon a second large resort pool will be opening so you'll have the option of taking the kids to different pools with a slide. And you'll have the ability to get a THV at the 11 month mark,.

Last I heard SSR was $90/point direct from Disney. However, the resale prices are MUCH cheaper. If you don't need the points within the next few months, definitely go the resale route. You will get so much more for your month, especially with SSR.
