Hi! I am so excited to be planning my trip to Disneyworld in December of 2006. I am already planning out trip even though its February! I am attempting to take my 3 children to Disney. I want to surprise them with the plans the day we leave, any ideas on what would be a cool way to break the news to them? Their ages are 11, 4, and 8 (the 8 year old will be turning 9 while we are there). We have had a rough 2 years, and I really want this to be a special memory for all of us. I would appreciate any ideas you could throw my way! Thanks ahead of time!

Congatulations!! :cheer2:
I am sure that your children are just gonna explode when they get the news!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I have never been able to keep exceiting news to myself,... :teeth: so I have no good ideas :confused3 But I'm sure you'll get tons of suggestions from those who can keep mums the word :thumbsup2
Good luck and ENJOY :woohoo:

Maybe you could start using more Disney things around the house (try to find some inexpensive Disney paper plates, cups or napkins) play Disney music and watch Disney movies a lot. When they ask what's going on, have them guess. Or you could just play charades! My kids love these kinds of games. Congrats on your upcoming trip! You guys will have so much fun!

Oh- just noticed you want to tell them the DAY you leave. Wow- you're good. I'd never be able to wait that long. It reminds me of the time my Dad woke us up early for a WDW trip without telling us where we were going. We wouldn't get moving so he taped snap n pops (not sure what their called- the little white things you throw at the ground and they make a loud POP)-he taped them to the bottom of our shoes before he put them on us. We did not find it amusing at the time but once he told us where we were going we were jumping :Pinkbounc and popping :bounce: all over the place. This is not a recommendation though it was pretty funny :lmao:

Thank you all for your feedback!!!!! I am soooo excited about our trip! I have been to the World once before 3 years ago we went in August so you can just imagine the weather, but I had a blast!! My oldest son (8 years) has really bad asthma, so I'm hoping the weather will be perfect for him to enjoy his trip and plus it's during Christmas time! My kids have noticed the Disney books but they really have not said anything about them. I guess because the book I bought does not have pictures in it. I am really hoping I can keep this secret until December, I have been dying to talk to someone about it, I'm so glad I found this board!!! I will be celebrating my 8 year old's birthday 2 days into our trip, so after the trip in December, I'm gonna have to figure out how to top this birthday bash!!! Thanks again for your advice! :thumbsup2 :rotfl: :woohoo:

We are also planning a trip in December. There is no way I could keep it from my kids! :lmao: Even though you want to surprise them, you might want to tell them. :confused3 They could help out with the planning. It's just a thought. I know how much my kids LOVE to help plan. In fact, my kids are having such withdrawl, my son took one of his Disney jams cd into the fan yesterday. I think he was trying to tell me something? :rotfl2:
Have fun!

I f you are able to hold it in then I would surprise them. You know how long 10 months seems to you, well imagine for them. Plus seeing the look on thier face will be priceless. Thats just mo. :ssst:

You may try posting your question on the Disney for Families and Theme Parks forum -- I have seen lots of threads discussing how to surprise kids with a WDW trip :wizard: Happy planning :Pinkbounc

How cool! You'll be the coolest parent. I have to agree with some of the others here, I couldn't keep it secret.

:welcome: Welcome!!!!

December trip...some things to make it special...
I think
-touring all the resorts and looking at the Christmas decorations.
-trying to ride upfront on the monorail(my boys finally got to do this on their birthday/and shared room with other children.
-If you are staying at the WL you could ask to be a Flag Family(the info is on www.allearsnet.com search flag family)
-You can get a HB pin at the town hall at WDW for the 8 yo(a special thing might happer...or might not...my son got to go on the FP line of Buzz with out one)
-You could always rent a pontoon boat if this is a really big celebration or reward after some momentous event(or if you have a need to do something really different).
-I would highly suggest doing the Fantasmic Dinner Package.
-I also believe that since your 8 yo is that age at check in..you still pay a child's rate for the food plan and tickets. I would do the food plan and take advantage of the Character Meals(I love CHef Mickey...but for the Holidays LTT would be fun too).(www.allearsnet.com)
-there's a thread somewhere about finding odd things like the ring at HM and the Key at MGM etc.(check on the Theme park/attractions board).
-You could also do the activity stations at Epcot...or attend the story tellers at the Holiday time.
-there is the Candlelight Processional
-Osborne lights
-Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party
and you can not miss Wishes or Illuminations.

Post where you are staying and the lenght of your trip(and family coming)...and we can help more.

I hope you have a great trip. My boys really enjoyed their birthday at Chef Mickey...and I hope your plans go well. Make the adr's - look at the calander, and plan, plan, plan....post on the different boards. You will get tons of help. :thumbsup2
