Hi! I just wanted to post a hello to my fellow Disney FANatics! I have always used this site as a resource for finding WDW info only, never to post. I'm leaving for Orlando in 30 days and will be staying on property for the first time (POR). I cannot wait to be immersed within the World. I have been to WDW several times as a child and loved it! As an adult (without children), I thought that it wasn't worth the money to return..... Boy was I wrong. My boyfriend and I visited two summers ago and this upcoming trip will be our 4th trip. This upcoming vacation will also be our longest stay (7 days). Have the readers of Disboards had good experiences staying at POR? By the way, I live in Louisiana so it should feel like home (hee hee).

:welcome: We have stayed at POR many times and love it. It is our favorite moderate resort. We prefer AB over the mansions.

Hello fellow Louisiana neighbor! We enjoyed our stay at POR in March, the resort was great! We also had good luck with the busses.
Have a great trip!

I think that I could stay in a shoebox on Disney property and be a happy camper! The only negatives I hear about POR are always prefaced by "We have always stayed at the luxury resorts...." I'd nit pick about a moderate too!
Bbak3030: I've always wanted to visit Disney over Mardi Gras. I stopped going to parades a couple of years ago and am toying with the idea of taking a quick trip this year during Carnival. I'm in school and can only visit the mouse in the busy seasons (summer), so I'd like to utilize the slight school break to enjoy a more quiet Disney.

It was really nice this year. The crowds were a little heavier than I expected, but we had a great time. And the weather couldn't be beat.
Next year it falls the same week as Presidents Day, so we are going in late January instead.
And we catch so many parades before Mardi Gras, it wasn't a big deal to go when we did. We only missed 3 of our normal parades. It was worth it! We live in BR and do the local parades and sometimes venture to Metairie on Mardi Gras Day.
Our 3 favorite seasons: football, crawfish and Mardi Gras!!!!!

I live in New Orleans (Jefferson Parish) and work in the French Quarter so I can do without Mardi Gras! I was last in Disney this past December and the weather was amazing! But us Louisianians should be acclimated to the Florida summer heat. I visited your link from your past family vacation. What a gorgeous family you have! Looks like y'all had fun!
