Ok - I've been lurking on this site for months. I thought I could resist posting -but it's getting too close to my trip - I'm excited..and I need someone to share the excitement with...plus I have a couple of questions.

I got my luggage tags in the mail yesterday...woohoo. I also got a voucher for a pin - that suggested if you see a cm with a lanyard (sp?) - you can trade pins with them or something or other? I got very confused with Disney's instructions...

Anyone care to explain this to me?

I guess I should take this as a no...

Or maybe I'm crazy and there is no pin trading...

there is pin trading at wdw. this is how it works. There are pins for sale everywhere! At the parks, waterparks, pleasure island, and dtd. Most cms wear lanyards with pins on them. You buy pins and trade them with the cms. THe cms have to trade. The green lanyard means 12 & under. the other color lanyards are for any age group. cms aldo have something on their belt with pins. Be on the look out! If a pin has a mickey head on it(small in the corner or something) then it is a "lanyard" pin which means it is cm exclusive and rare, so they are good to trade for! My kids love pin trading, but be careful they leave a big dent it your wallet and become addictive! Hope this helps! :wizard:

This is going to be our 3rd trip with our pins!
We love adding to our collection and trading with the nice CM's.
It's a blast, and the pins make great souvies.

We also got a free pin voucher. You can choose either to keep your pin, or trade it.
You can display your pins on a lanyard, hat, vest...whetever, be creative!
Be careful of the plastic mickey head backs, because I lost a beautiful pin once because the back popped off.
You can purchase a pack of 12 locking pin backs for $8.95 for your pins you want to keep and not trade.

HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME!

You can also purchase pins ahead of time from www.disneyshopping.com. They're having their semi-annual pin clearance. I'd say start with the $4 ones and get a few to see if you like to trade. The pins at the park start at $6.95 and go up.

I have to agree. Buy the locking pin backs. I almost lost 1 last year because of that. Now when I trade I will either pocket the new one until back to the room or if we are waiting for a ride, then lock it down. The backs and the wrench that come with it are small and easy to keep with you.

I wonder what pin the voucher is for. Seems like last year we got one for a ME pin. We also got one for a Pal Mickey pin w/ purchase of PM.

This year we have a couple of tours that should include pins. Keys to the Kingdom and Around the world on a Segway.

Can't wait.

There is a forums on this board especially about pins.
You can buy "trader pins" off ebay for under $3.00 just make sure they are the real disney pins ..ask the seller if you aren't sure. They are good for your kids and more affordable to your pocket book!

I am a newbie too and got some pins that way. Gonna try them in 13 days anjd we will see how it goes.

Thank you all so much for the information. It sounds fun - and like something my DS(13) would enjoy. I'll have to give it a try and see how it goes.

We will be there 9/29 - 10/7, for our childrens' {DS and DD(5)} first trip ever. And practically mine - since I haven't been there since 1975 when I was 4!!! I'm always on the lookout for something to keep the DS entertained with...

CM's do not have to trade, if they have the pin that you are trading for a different pin they can't trade.
