So - I finally finish making dinner.

For DH - steak marinated in spices and oil.

For DD - vegetable pie (she's a vegeterian).

For DS - a burger (Wimpie - "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger today ").

Everyone sat. Everyone ate. Everyone got up and walked away. Is it me or is it too much to ask for a simple "That was good." Or "Thanks"? I know it's such a minor thing, but, hey!

Insult to injury - I turn on the Red Soxes . . .

JJJJJJJJJJEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

  Watched the Red Sox, too!! JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

You are not invisible! I only hope that when my kids are old enough to "request" specific dinners I have the patience you do. Right now, they get what mom wants to make!

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} and pixie dust to you.

Sometimes you have to say, "And how was your day", that happens in my family too, but once everyone starts talking, sometimes someone gets cut off, and I have to say, "Wait a minute, let that person finish their story";)

When I was growing up, many years ago, we ate what we were served. There were no special orders. I will say, my mother didnt make anything that I really hated, but I would never have thought she should make a special meal for each of us.

tonight, make a single serving of what you want and have them fend for themselves. See how fast they appreciate their special requests.

I know - I've "made my bed" on this one. But, I still think it is not asking much to GRUNT now and then!

I'm sorry that happened! You're a great Mom & should be appreciated. {{HUGS!!}}

When stuff like that happens here, I usually just start with "Gee, thanks Mom. This is really good. I appreciate you making it for me." They absolutely hate it when I do it. At that point they make the appropriate responses - even though they're WAY too late! It doesn't usually take me doing that more than a couple nights before they start expressing their appreciation again - spontaneously.

I don't often make different meals for the sake of preferences. . . though sometimes I make more side dishes because one or the other won't eat something. They never ask - I just do it.

I will say, though, that my soon-to-be DIL always makes a big deal out of anything I make "special" for her. (She has allergies to milk & wheat.)

I think they just take us for granted.:(

My DH is usually the very first one to say "That was a great dinner!, Thank You!" and that usually jogs all their memories and they start chiming in their thanks. I know my DH does that on purpose, bless his heart.

I make sarcastic comments and that usually gets their attention. That's when I tell they are doing the cleanup. Did I tell you that I think you're nuts for making 3 diff meals? ;) just teasing! Can I move in? :p

Cathy, maybe she can make us some of that Canadian Potatoe soup. Yummy!

I appreciate you, Harambe.

Take a page from LucyStorm's book and go on strike. I'll bet they say thank you after a week of cooking for themselves ;)

Jeez! When I was still home, you didn't leave the table until you said..."May I please be excused?"

sdoane, good idea!! ;)

Pin Wizard, it was the same at my table growing up. Now we are lucky to eat together at the table with everyone's schedules. :(

Okay guys - I'm feeling horrible! The three "offenders" mentioned in my OP got up this cold rainy morning at 6:30am and walked a six mile Cancer Walk with me! I guess they're not all that bad!

We looked spiffy in our 100 Years of Magic ponchos, too!

I would be glad, BTW, to make you soup. Although I am famous for my Chicken soup, rather than potato!

We had fun teasing you about them, Harambe, but what a wonderful family you have.

Thank you - and odd I should have acquired a tag! The tag Fairy is a real Evil Tag Mistress, isn't she!!!

Thanks! I really do make great Chicken Soup!!!!

What a wonderful family activity to share. I'm proud of all of you!
