Hi guys,

Well my fabulous 10 day trip is over. We got home late Sunday night. First off I have to say thanks to those that recommended Atlantic City Airport. It was great.

We stayed 4 nights at the Polynesian. Connecting Lagoon view rooms. Rooms 1025 and 1026. I stayed in 1025 with the little boys and my hubby while my MIL and teens stayed in 1026. 1026 had a perfect view of the castle. Just gorgeous. 1025 had some foliage in front of the room and a small tree which, looking directly out of the room hid the castle, but if you went to the right a little, you had a perfect view. Also a great view of space mountain.

The rooms were perfect. We got to the Poly at about 11am, and were told our rooms were not ready, so we headed to the pool. We had PS for Hoop De Doo at 5pm. One of our rooms became available at 4pm, the other wasn't going to be ready till after 6pm. They gave someone a 5pm checkout.

We stayed 5 nights AKL concierge. WOW!!!! The AKL is fabulous. I never wanted to leave. We had rooms 5237 and 5239. Perfect views of Arusha Savannah, Kudu trail. Tons of animals all the time. Got connecting rooms, one with 2 queens the other with the bunks.

AKL blew me away. The concierge services are unbelievable and everyone there is so nice.

I know this is long. Sorry. I will post trip reports later as tons of laundry are waiting for me.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with information on this trip.

Oh and a special thanks to Cassie <<^>>. The stuffed animals delivered to the room each night were a HUGE hit with the boys.

Jill,

I can't say enough about the concierge staff. They are truly attentive. Right down to the food staff. Ronni and Theresa are the best. They love kids and were alway playing with my 2. They even brought them out 2 little safaris cars to take home.

I wound up leaving my credit card at one of the picture pick up spots in the MK and Priscilla at the concierge desk, Actually sat on hold for 15 minutes with central lost and found for me and tracked it down. SHe is a doll.

The food offerings were extremely plentiful and they always gave us a bag with 7 bottled waters for the trips to the parks.

Oh, and the kids loved the lounge. They played disney classic cartoons on the tv's and the kids were mesmerized. We were even able to enjoy dessert and cordials while the kids watched the tv. There were many kids there and all were beautifully behaved.

Enjoy your stay. I'm already planning on when we will stay there again.

Hey Lizzie WELCOME HOME!

Glad to see you had a magical trip. Please do tell all about AKL Concierge. Did the little ones find enough food? Are the rooms any larger than the normal rooms? And please do elaborate on the sunrise safari. I've been taking the kids to the safari at Six Flags and I am really excited to hear abot the sunrise safari especially with the little ones. Did they love it? Also were there many other kids? Were youi banished to the back of the vehicle because you had kids (LOL). I've been patiently waiting for your report. Welcome back my friend.
:D :D

Hey Laura,

The kids had a blast at the concierge lounge. They play disney cartoons all day. There are these round wooden stools and my guys loved sitting on them and watching TV.

Breakfast had lots of different cereals in those little plastic containers. Fruit Loops, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies and I think Special K. My guys loved the Fruit loops.

There were also plenty of little mini danishes. Cheese, apple and strawberry. They were very yummy. Also lots of muffins, banana nut, blueberry and I believe a bran. The blueberry were great. They also had out a large pot of oatmeal with brown sugar and regular oatmeal.

I never saw the afternoon offerings because we were at the parks or at the pool. The evening offerings were very good. Some skewered beef things and some wraps. Delicious. My guys didn't really go for these though.

Dessert had plenty also. Mini pastries, some yummy brownies and chocolate chip, oatmeal and sugar cookies.

They kids will have a blast.

The sunrise safari was great!!!! We had soem 35 people on the safari. There were 6 children under 5. I had 2 of them. I must say you didn't hear a peep from kids. My 4 year old was seated in the front row with my daughter and my mother in law. I was a few rows back with my 2 year old. My 4 year old was asking the tour guide (Vicki) all kinds of questions about the animals and was pointing them out. She commended him on his enthusiasm and pointed out what a great guest he was.

All the kids and the adults were great on the safari. I will post about the actual safari later.

You will have a great time Laura.

Welcome back Liz. So you got into Tahiti. That is great. Sorry you did not get to try the Polynesian’s concierge. If you liked the AKL concierge you would have loved the Polynesian. I like both but the Polynesian to me is just that much better. I can’t wait for the trip report.

If you got some good room view photos send them to:

Hi Lizzie - Welcome Home!!

I bet your kids were dragging you back to the room at night to see what animal would be waiting for them!

Looking forward to your official trip report -- but this was a pretty good partial!

>>^..^<<

Welcome back Lizzie,

Sounds like you had a perfectly wonderful trip! Can't wait to read the trip reports :)

Teresa

Your trip sounds wonderful!
I can't wait to return to both resorts. We are doing the AKL concierge first , then the Poly. I know it will be hard to leave the AKL. I hope we aren't dissappointed once we reach the Poly.
Look forward to your full report. I am getting so excited about our trip!

Steve - I took loads of pictures 25 rolls to be exact, as soon as I get them up, I'll send them to you. By the way, had that Lapu Lapu and did the Volcano Slide. Awesome.

I got all my requests for both resorts. I was truly blessed with Pixie Dust.

>>^..^<< - Every night they were crazy to see what "Mickey" had left for them. I was actually surprised at the size of the stuffed animals. I thought they would be beanie baby sized. They were actually a good size.

Oh and the weather was 92 or better every day. HUMID !!! Had to wear my hat every day or else I'd look like a big frizz ball. My hair and humidity don't go together. Good thing I bought that "GO CLAY" hat.

Only rained at night, and that was only 2 nights I think.

I hope you did not have the Lapu Lapu and then do the slide. I did once but the slide was not the water one...it was the stairs from the upper floor of the GCH.

Aloha

:) :) ROFL :) :)

That must've hurt!

Lizzie,

Glad you had a great time! We returned on Sunday also :(.

It certainly was HOT!! All we kept hearing was how unseasonably hot it was. I told them they needed to change their statistics because this was the 3rd time we've been down in May and all three times it's been 94+ and humid!

Sorry we didn't get to run into one another at the Poly!

hey Lizzie,

Welcome back, I can't wait for trip reports , as I am doing the same trip in reverse!!
Do you think it will be hard to go from AKL to Poly?
How was the transition , getting from one hotel to the next?
Did you eat at any of the resort restuarants?
How was transportation at each resort?
THanks in advance Lizzie for all your great information!!

Beth - Sorry we didn't run into each other either. I too think they should change the temperature averages for May. This was our second trip in 2 years in May and both times the temperatures were in the 90's and very humid.'

Lizmc- The transition was very easy. We had a rental car so we just packed up the car and went over to AKL. When we hit the gates at AKL they called up and we were met with a bell person who took all our luggage and had valet park our car. Then we went right up to the lounge and bell services showed up our rooms.

I personally loved AKL and was glad we did it second. I liked the poly, but loved AKL.

We drove our car everywhere once we were at AKL. It only took us 10 minutes max to get to most of the parks and we did them all from AKL too.

The only time we took the Disney bus was the day we did the sunrise safari, because you are left at the park after the safari. We waited about 15 minutes for a bus back to AKL from AK. The ride itself was only 5 minutes long.

I personally would never do the buses. I have 2 small kids and strollers and to have to unload and collapse the strollers is too much of a pain. I like having the car to put everything into and not be rushed by everyone else trying to board the bus.

We ate at Ohana's for breakfast - Awesome family style breakfast
Kona's also for breakfast - very nice menu - good food

Boma's - was great. Different tastes though.

Hope that helps.

Boy, my trip reports will be boring to everyone now. I have to sort out my notes then I will post them

Glad to hear you had a great time.

We also returned from FL on Sunday night and it did appear to be unusually warm while we were in FL.

Hi Floridafam,

The view from our rooms was incredible. We had rooms 5237 and 5239. The rooms were centered over Arusha Savannah, Kudu trail. The animals were unbelievable. We saw tons of Giraffe, Zebras, Ankole Cattle, Gemsboks, vultures. It was fabulous. All day.

One morning I woke up and found one of the huge ankole cattle sleeping right in front of our balcony. Those guys are huge.

Welcome Back Lizzie64

I'm so glad you enjoyed the AKL concierge as much as we did in January. Your rooms were just down the hall from ours. We were in 5225, wasn't the view amazing. DH loved looking at the Ankole cattle and he also couldn't get over their size and those horns. I'm glad you enjoyed the Sunrise Safari. The AKL concierge staff truly do treat you like royalty from the moment you arrive.:D

I can't wait to read your trip reports.

I took notes and 25 rolls of film.

I promise I'll try to get some of my trip reports going today. I'm still swallowed up in laundry and putting stuff away. We had to buy an extra suitcase to get all the stuff home.

I love Disney World
