Sadly I grow nothing. But I love any heirloom tomatoes, the uglier the better. Last year at the farmer's market I picked out some real ugly ones and my friend just didn't like the look of them. I told her to just wait and see how they tasted. Once we had them she said they were some of the best tomatoes she had ever had. I can't wait for them to start coming in here!

We have 2 farms in our area that we can buy them so I will just pay the price, and they are pricey. My favorite is Mr Stripey.

I am on a mission to grow heirloom tomatoes this year for the first time. I have always grown Big Boy, Early Girl, Beefsteak, Glamour Girl, etc. But the past few years I've been less than thrilled with my homegrown tomatoes. The skin is thick and tough and they lacked flavor. Where can you buy heirloom tomato plants? Do regular garden stores have them?

My favorite heirloom tomato is Cherokee Purple. It's a beautiful tomato and it is delicious. I also grow Brandywine, Akers West Virginia, Black Cherry, Ramapo (my son gets the Ramapo from Cook College at Rutgers) and many more.

I get my tomato seeds from www.tomatogrowers.com (Tomato Growers Supply Company).

I love my heirloom tomatoes. They have way more flavor than the hybrids.
