I found this in the "european" section of walmart. What exactly is it? The bottle says it is pourable sunshine, but of course that doesn't help me know what it tastes like... I usually like creamy salad dressings but I don't want to get it and waste it if I won't like this.

So can anyone describe the flavor?

I don't know, but the name alone makes me want to puke. Sorry, but I think they need a better name other than salad cream. YUCK

If it tastes good, I couldn't care less about the name of it!

My daughter told me yesterday that they were serving Heinz Ranch with the salad at school and it was nasty lol! But that's just my 10yo dd's opinion on their Ranch, maybe the "salad creme" is better:confused3

Its not a version of mayo is it? Some people refer to mayo as salad dressing?!? :confused3

What color is it?

Hope ya figure it out :)

The Heinz website says it is: "60% less fat than the standard mayonnaise market leader." That would lead me to believe it is more like mayo or Miracle Whip than salad dressing.

Hope that helps :)

My SIL lived in England for a bit and told me about it. She loved it. She didn't describe the taste to me, though.

It's pale yellow, definitely not mayo color... the website threw me off!

Post this on the UK community board. Someone there will know. SIL told me it was very common over there.

the ingredients are Spirit Vinegar, Canola Oil, Water, Sugar, Mustard, Salt, Egg Yolks, Modified Corn Starch, Xanthan Gum, Guar Gum, Colored With Riboflavin.

people online are comparing it to cole slaw dressing....

I'm in the camp of those who've said the name is just so unappealing that I probably couldn't eat it! Salad and creme don't need to go together in my mind!

Okay now it sounds like mayo with mustard in it lol!

I was beginning to think it was just me. But yeah, the name is a real turn off. Um, it's called marketing people, look it up. lol

That sounds pretty good.

Let's see... salad creme' or marshmallow creme', which one is the more appealing name? I guess in the more literal sense, salad dressing is on the creamy side so maybe that's the idea, :confused3

Hi, it doesn't taste like mayo exactly. It is salad dressing but you can also use it for a dip for veggies. It sort of makes me think of egg salad sandwich flavour if kwim. It can't be that expensive can it? Give it a try!

If it is expensive, I wouldn't bother, it's nothing particularly special imho. Just part of the british culture. When I lived there several years ago, they just didn't have the range of choices for salad dressings like we do. It was either mayo or salad cream. I brought over some french dressing and people were like "ugh, gross, that is so wierd, who would put THAT on their salad!". Times are probably changing, they were bringing out more and more american convenience food (like kraft dinner!) by the time I left.

Enjoy! Or not lol.

I bet it's like Miracle Whip or the Hellman's "Sandwich Spread" (but without the pickles) that my mom bought when we were kids. (That stuff had pickles in it and we called it "pickle mayonaise")
