We will be going to WDW in a few months. DS is 37 inches right now and I know that they have a requirment of 40 inches for some rides. How stern are they with the height issue? Will they allow him to ride with us in the car, lets say on Splah Mountain, in the middle?

They are actually very strict with the height requirements. If there's room for one molecule of air between a kid's head and a stick, they won't let hiim on.:sad2: I know how frustrating it is. My DD is itching to ride RnR and she is 47 1/2 inches now. Hopefully she'll hit a quick growth spurt in the next month.

No. They shouldn't, anyway. Those height requirements are scientifically designed to keep everyone safe. Don't try to push him on and bargain with the castmembers, if they break the rules and let him on, they're still breaking the rules and violating his safety and yours.

Very firm!!! They could be liable if they let some that were not up to the height measurements in. They wouldn't let my son on Big Thunder when his hair was touching - they said the bar had to hit the top of his head. I'm okay with this as it is a safety precaution.

2 years ago my then 5 yr old DD wanted to ride Space Mountain and I knew she was an inch or so shy of the height requirement but they measured her and let her on. The same night we went to ride again and they measured her and denied her entrance. Then two days later we tried again and they never even stopped her to be measured. I guess it depends on the CM. I've heard that thick soled shoes help and even "lifts" inside the shoes! Good Luck

We've had a similar experience. When DD was right at 40 in, we rode Test Track...got on, no problem...came back an hour or so later and were told she couldn't ride...by the SAME CM that let her on earlier!?

What is really odd is we went to an amusement park near our home and there were so many things DD couldn't ride there. (The big rocking boat? The Scrambler? A log ride?) I thought it was funny that she couldn't get on that, but had been riding things like Splash, TOT and Dinosaur since she was 3.:goodvibes

Very firm, and for good reason. It is definitely a safety issue. And it's not just height: it's also a weight thing. 3" is definitely too much. Most of the time, 1/4 of an inch is too much.

I know it can be annoying, but they are concerned for your son's safety, as you should be too. Don't worry, there's still plenty to do.

Very strict and for good reason. The height requirements are there for the safety of guests, not to be an annoyance. The safety systems on rides are designed to fit people of a certain height and taller.

Don't try to sneak by the CM or use some trick to make your son look taller. Which is more important to you, your son having a safe time at WDW or getting hurt because he was to short for the safety systems to work properly?
