Height restrictions...

My son will be about 1.5 years old on our trip. I have a feeling he could be tall enough for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Flying Tires. If he is, he'd just barely be tall enough. But I'm wondering if we should still skip them if by chance he's tall enough, since he will be quite young.

Thoughts?

We took our kids on both as soon as they were tall enough. Ds was about 20 months old at the time. It's really up to you if you think mater might be too intense.

If those things had existed when DS was that little, I personally would have taken him on the tires but not Mater. It's so hard to even get Luigi started, and you don't really spin or hit things hard, so the forces aren't something I worry about. But Mater spins, and I didn't take DS on rapidly spinning things that young. I'm pretty sure it's something you wouldn't be able to put him on your lap for, which means you'll be spending the whole ride just holding him upright...not a fun way to spend a ride.

I would spend lots of time looking around in Carsland, and a TON of time riding in Bug's Land. (but not on the ladybug ride for my family, if we had gone into DCA when DS was little, because it's just another rapidly spinning ride)

Keep in mind also that he has to be able to sit on the seat next to you. You can hold on to him, but they won't let him ride on your lap on ANY ride.

Junkyard Jamboree whips you around hard and fast. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with a little guy on there.

My niece is very petite and wasn't tall enough until a few months after turning 2 and the first time she was a little nervous but as we were getting off she was begging for more. As previously stated, they do have to sit fully on their own and it whips you around quite strongly. If you can squeeze him between two adults or even a bigger sibling that would probably make you feel more comfortable as he'd be smashing into you, not the side of the tractor...

Thanks, all. There's a good chance he won't be tall enough anyway. But I thought I'd ask anyway.

I think we will go on spinning things like the teacups and whatnot since there's no height requirement. We just won't purposely make it spin a bunch.

We went when my DD was 1 and 2. She went on everything she was tall enough for. At 2 I know that included Mater's. She loved it, I was holding on to her because I felt like she was so tiny, but she was totally fine.

At 1.5 your son well be able to do so many things. They are just in awe at that age, its really fun to see.

They recently added some nonslip stuff to the seats on Mater's so it's not quite as fun [since it's now harder to squish each other as you go through the turns] but I'm sure it's much better for the tiny kids!
