How do they measure kids for the height requirements? Do they measure when you enter the park and mark them somehow? Or do you have to measure at each ride that has a requirement?

My son is right at 40inches tall and I wonder if they measure him at each ride he might make the requirement at one and it might be a little different at the other and he wont be allowed on. We arent really planning to go on many of those rides but I dont want to stand in a line waiting to go on it and then he cant go on.

If they do measure at each ride, do they measure before you get in line or right before you get on?

They measure at each ride with a height requirement. Sometimes more than once per ride, when you get in line and then before you get on the ride.

They do measure at each ride, but I think there is usually a stick at the beginning of the line too, so you can check before waiting.

Practice at home, so he knows how to stand straight and tall but still fairly, and make sure he's OK with the stick touching the top of his head.

Also, do whatever "big" ride(s) is/are important to him first thing in the morning. - You actually measure taller before you've walked around and compressed your spine all day.

Also, if he is close the measuring sticks aren't always consistant. People tell stories of getting cleared at the front of the line, but not making it at the end. Or being able to ride one 40" ride without problems, and getting stopped at the next. This may induce you to start talking about "next time."

This happened to us and my nephew. In fact, one time the child rode a ride, went back to ride it again with the other parent and was turned away. The measuring sticks are also not 40 inches. There is no way that they are. We have taken children that have measured 40+ innches at the doctor only to be turned away at WDW rides. Good luck. Sometimes the kids measure fine and sometimes they don't. Let me tell you about waiting for over an hour for Test Track with a child that was measured by a CM at the beginning of the ride only to be turned away just as they were getting on the ride. Fun times.

WE almost had it happen to us at Star Tours. DD measured fine at the outside, but the CM inside said she was too short. She was standing with her feet spread apart when the CM measured her. I had her stand up really straight and do it again and she passed. I swear those sticks were different though b/c there was no question at all at the front. She had a god extra inch or so. This was the only place in any of the 4 parks that there was a question about her being 40".

We had this issue this past trip. My DD is just at 40 inches and some rides she measured fine and other she did not meet the height requirement.

Kali River Rapids is 38 inches and they actually at the fast pass line put a bracelet on her arm and stamped it Kali so there was no measuring again at the front and we were never questioned again each time we rode it. They should do this at all the rides- it would make things easier.

The bracelet / stamp combo really means "isn't 42", so has to have the orange safety bar," not "is tall enough to ride." Once you hit 42", you no longer get it.
