Height Requirements Question

I have never paid attention I guess because my wife and I just go to DL and WDW without any kids. But for the smaller kids that say are on the border of some of the attraction height requirements, does Disney give like a wristband or something for them to wear or basically just get checked everytime? Thought I have seen something like that a park before but wasn't for sure.

They are checked for each ride seperately and sometimes twice - if a child is very close to the height requirement it is best to prepare them they may not get to ride as while they might measure at home to be say 40" they might still be under the stick used for measurement.

If they are right there as far as height requirement goes, make sure you ride the rides that must dos first thing in the morning. Kids may satisfy the height requirement in the AM, but in the evening they likely will not. Everyone's spine compresses throughout the day and we can end up to be an inch shorter. Makes a big difference.

Our 3 year old was right at 40 inches when we went in May. He was checked every time at the entrance of the queue of all the rides and a few times right before getting on the ride. He was not denied any times but had a close call the first day at RSR with our later afternoon fastpasses. At the line entrance, the CM said he was very borderline and they would probably have to be remeasured at the front of the line and that those cast members had the final say. They did not check him at the front so no issues. The next morning, we did wide right and got there 1st thing and he cleared the same pole without a doubt.

It stressed us out a bit at first but turned out to be OK.

It's almost sporadic how they check. Last year, my youngest was still being checked everytime at BTMRR (40") even though she was already tall enough to ride GSS (42"). Yet, DD8 has never been measured for CS (48" - she couldn't have been more than 48.5" the first time she rode it at age 7) and DD6 (currently 45" barefoot) wasn't measured at all for Indy (46") two weeks ago (I had measured her the night before we rode - her head just barely touched). However, we always plan on being measured and wouldn't bring a kid into line that we didn't believe was tall enough to ride.

Yep, measured just about each time, often twice for my dd a couple weeks ago! She made the cut off just fine in the morning, but in the evening she was tired and didn't want to stand up straight and didn't get to go on the same ride she'd rode in the morning. Turns out the rider switch cards are good for later days, I learned from that experience! Good luck!

Dont forget that there are different height restrictions for each ride, starshine514 mentioned some of them. The Disney maps have the requirements written under the rides, so plan wisely :thumbsup2

Thanks for all the info. Yeah we are taking the nephew and we got all the info about what rides are at what height requirements. I believe he was at 40 inches last month from what I heard from my brother. So if he is measuring that now, he should be ok for those rides by the time we go in September.

The problem with wristbands is that people will take them off of perfectly tall kids and put them on kids who aren't tall enough, which causes a huge liability for Disney. Safety is #1 for Disney and checking kids' heights multiple times on each attraction is important to them.
