height requirement measuring locations

Does anyone know if there is a location in the MK to measure kids to see if they are tall enough to ride the height-restricted rides other then in the ride line? At Town Hall maybe? I saw posts at US/IOA last week that you could walk up to and check your height, but don't recall anything similar at Disney (BTW, the height stick for the Hulk at IOA came up to the bridge of my nose!).

I am heading down on Wednesday with my niece and nephew. My Dniece age 4 measured 39 1/2 inches at her well-child physical in early September. She has been talking about wanting to ride Splash Mountain, and ideally I would like to check her height against Disney's sticks prior to getting in line. We've measured her here at home and she reads as tall enough, but if there is a discrepancy between our measurements and Disney's I would like to find out before getting in line and then having to deal with the inevitable meltdown.

I am not putting her in heeled shoes or trying the old ponytail on the top of the head trick. If she is not tall enough to ride, there is always next time.

Height lines are at each attraction and you will get to those before you enter the main line. You will probably also get another measurement before boarding the attraction. There is no "one" measuring point at Disney World. Each attraction has it's own stop.

We were in the same boat with our granddaughter. She was just 40 inches tall when we took her the first time. This past time, she was under the 48 inch limit so she knew she couldn't ride a couple of things. She was fine and understood why. We actually had fun with the height thing. Made a joke about it. But were prepared if things fell, well, short.

I've been wondering the same thing. There's little doubt about how my DD 5 measures but my DS 2 straddles the line a bit. It sure would be nice to know ahead of time to save time and expectations.

Considering that DD has been eating all kinds of spinach trying to "grow that inch" she's going to be mighty disappointed if she doesn't measure up. According to home measurements, she is fine...barely. Somewhere on here I read that children could go somewhere and be measured and have their hands stamped and not have to go through the constant examination. Is this not true?

I think I remember reading that they were trialing that for a while, but had stopped. Hopefully someone else knows.

I've seen them measure kids twice on the same ride. There was a boy in front of me in the Space Mountain line, he was measured at the entrance and measured again on the platform. He passed both times but I guess a cm on the platform thought he might be a little short. I guess considering the liability that could happen if there was an injury and the child turned out to be too short, they have to be careful.

I hope it is true! Love that feature at Fiesta Texas...go to a station get measured, get tagged (specific color bracelet for specific height limits/restrictions) and go about your day never having to measure again!

This was my exact suggestion after our August trip. Our DD4 measured exactly 40in at home before we left. She rode Splash with no measurement and Test Track with a cursory measurement. The first time we rode Soarin there was no problem, when we returned later that same day with our FP they said she was too short. Now I have no problem with following the rules but she had already been on the ride and LOVED it. They finally called a supervisor and he reluctantly OKd it but she was then measured again before loading. I would love if they had some sort of station you can go to for an official measurement and then hand out color coded wristbands. This would also eliminate each CM from having to make the judgement call and there would be no inconsistancy (sp?).

I did not know there was a height restriction on Soarin'! I never saw anyone with measuring sticks there. Great...I have been talking up this ride to her. I am going to be one bad auntie if she can't ride!

And I agree on the wristband thing. That would be a great idea. I wonder why they don't do it?

I am not kidding - my daughter was measured 4 times before she rode RnR! She just made it. Now, friends of ours just got back Friday and their son was bordering the 48 inch mark. They actually pushed his hair down flat to measure and he did not make the cut. I guess its good that they are trying to keep everyone safe.
