We are heading out for our first Disney trip. July 20-26!!!!

My three older children are obviously tall enough to ride all the rides. My question is for my 4 year old. She is on the short side for her age at 39 inches tall. I want her to be able to ride Splash Mountain and Soarin with us for sure. Is this going to be possible? Are they real strict about the height?

Thanks, I sure I will have many more questions before we leave!!!

Yes, pretty strict about the height and it varies by ride what she may or may not be tall enough for on their ruler.

My son was literally just under the line (maybe a quarter of an inch at that) and they would not let him ride EE.

The other advice I have heard is to try for the ride in question 1st thing in the morning. You are actually taller then, than later in the day.

I just wanted to say Woo Hoo!

I will be there they same time as you! We will be leaving on the 25th though!

Have a great trip!

I hate to say it but in all likelihood she probably wont be able to get on. You should probably prepare the family for that likelihood so there's no hard disappointments when you get there. On the other hand, the good news is at least that will free up some time to get on other rides. ::yes::

In the past, we have found them to be very strict. I would be prepared to do the Rider Swap. When you walk up to the attraction tell the CM you want to do Rider Swap. Then your husband can ride with your older children while you wait with your daughter. Then, when he gets off, you can go and ride with the older children and your husband can wait with your daughter.

They didn't measure my older son on any rides last week, but he is 42 inches. They did measure my youngest to go on Goofy's Barnstormer. He is 36-37 inches and the limit is 35. I am guessing she will get measured at every single ride and will probably not get on. I have heard stories of kids being OK at the front on the line and then not being allowed on at the very last minute when they check just before getting on. I would rather not even try than have that happen. My kids would not handle that well.

we just got back from a 9 day trip. my 4 year old was measured and allowed on every ride she wanted to throughout the trip at varying times of the day. she was just above the bar they use to measure. i assumed she was over 40" since i had read on here that it's very strict. she just went to the dr. on friday and they measured her at 39 1/4". maybe she just didnt stand up as straight at the dr's or maybe it was the shoes (she wore crocs at disney).

good luck :)

eta: i was also worried about being measured at the front, going through the line and then not being allowed on. (i would be very angry to wait in line and then not be able to ride) i only remember her being checked at the second measuring bar maybe twice during the whole trip.

Been there! Done that! And it's not cool. Not sure what the deal is but being told your child can go on a ride and then standing on line for X min (insert any time over 20 minutes) only to find out there is a 2nd checkpoint and this time the child is not tall enough is a big old super duper bummer. My DD cried and cried thinking she had done something wrong b/c they wouldn't let her on the ride. CM didn't care. I'm all for safety and security but don't do this to the kids.

I can remember when ds was just 40" he was measured a total of 3x before we got to the front of the line his first time riding Splash Mtn. So yes, they can be strict. Measure her with her regular (walking) shoes on...if she's close she may make it on, however you may just want to prepare her for the worst (that she won't be able to ride) and teach her to stand up really straight. :) hth, and hope you have a great trip whatever happens!

I think my daughter was 41" at the Dr.s, but that was without shoes. I am assuming she will be 42" with shoes?(she's in bed right now)

I measured my DD (3) before we left at 40 1/2 with shoes. The only ride we tested was Soarin' at park opening and no one was there to measure here at the front entrance or at the entrance to the ride. She rode it and loved it!

We didn't test Splash Mountain because my 5 year old was scared to ride it!

Make sure to prepare her not to ride - say 'we'll see if you're tall enough - but if not we'll do.....(something fun that she would like).

DD was just a hair short for SM and wasn't allowed on. Luckily - we had prepared her that she might not be tall enough this time around so she wasn't too upset.
