Height check

Is there somewhere we can check heights once and get like a bracelet or something that says how tall they are or do you have to do it at every ride. I thought I had read that there was a place to get height bracelet, but that might have been at another park (not disney). Thanks

I don't think so...I know at rides that have height restrictions a CM is out front with a measuring stick.

I don't think so either. Several times I saw little ones, being turned down. Parents were upset, because they had met the height requirement at some rides, but not others, that were supp. to be the same. A bracelet, and a central spot to be measured would make things soooo much easier.

Disney attempted to do the bracelet thing a little while back (although I believe only at DL, not WDW?)---didn't work out. I guess too many people were trying to cheat the system, switching wristbands so that shorter children could go on the rides.

They do try to measure children if they're smaller (my youngest got measured 3 times for one ride of Test Track ), but it can be hit or miss. My best recommendation is to teach your child how to stand up nice & tall while at home, so that they understand what to do once they get there. A good pair of shoes never hurts either.

My DD3 is 38" and DD8 is 51". We're not going until Oct. so who knows how tall they'll be then. I know the tallest height requir. is 48" but I figured my oldest will probably get measured anyway. Just thought it would be easier if I could take her somewhere to get something that says she's over 48" so we don't have to go over the whole mesuring thing every time. As for the 3 y/o, well she's hoping to grow 2 in by Oct(she says sh'e been waiting to ride BTMRR "her whole life"). she's 38" w/o shoes on so maybe there's hope for her. Thanks all

I wouldn't worry about your older daughter. My DD7 is about her height and was probably 1/2-1 inch shorter in Oct and didn't get measured for anything except Primeval Whirl once. Three inches is a big difference.

My oldest just makes 54" and hasn't been measured since she was about 50". My youngest is 48" and gets measured almost every time for RnR coaster and Primevil whirl. The CMs are usually pretty good at eyeballing the kids on rides they normally work and will measure them if they are very close or seem to be trying to "get away" with the super extra big shoes and hat trick! It usualy only takes a second...hit your head on the bar and you are in!

Last May on Kali River Rapids, we took my tall then 2 Y.O. DD who wanted to go on with her big brother. They measured her, and then gave her a yellow bracelet to wear until she got to the boarding area of Kali. They made it clear that this was only for Kali and would not work on any other ride.
BTW, she loved Kali and frequently talks about doing it again this trip.

Maybe that's what I was thinking about. We are gonna try both girls on Kali. DD8 dosen't like water rides, but has agreed that she wants to try it. DD3, on the other hand is up for anything and wants to ride whatever she can(we haven't had the heart to tell her yet that she can't ride ToT, RRc, or MS). It usualy only takes a second...hit your head on the bar and you are in!

My daughter tends to duck to go under those bars! I've been trying to teach to stand tall and I told her she wants her head to hit the bar but now she'll probably jump or stand on her toes!

We've done the bracelet thing at Paramount Parks (like Canada's Wonderland, etc..) but wish they would offer something like this at WDW. I'd be first in line for that (when my DS was younger and not such a sprout like now! ).

you get shorter as the day progresses, so if there are any rides you want to try that are "close"--go to them in the morning.

I'm just trying to figure out how to get a sea raycer for myself (i'm just under 4'10" and the rule is that you must be 5ft to take one out.--it's hysterical, i can drive a lethal weapon in NY, but can't take out a boat the moves slower than 15 mph)

I'm guessing just gravity - your spine compresses a bit? I know I feel shorter after a day at Disney!

Yep.. It's true...

The stuff between your spine bones does compress ever so slightly during the day. I don't remember the numbers, but i think it was up to 1/2 a centameter!

As far as "questionable height kids" - If they are close... For the CM's sake, just explain to your kids that they are "close" and may not be tall enough all day. CM's hate to see the water works because the child got to go on (insert ride name here), but they are looking out for your safety, and to be fair to all kids who don't make the height

I noticed at Easter that a number of rides no longer had CM's standing with a stick to measure...now they have a stick permenantly attached to a building or such where the child needed to stand.

Also, I agree if your childi s bearly the height remember that we do shrink during the day. So, being just tall enough at 8am doesn't mean they will make it at 4pm..
