Heating oil prices today!

I’m a cc churner so most of my flights and hotel stays have been free, but my points supply is dwindling. Points are also being devalued so they don’t go as far as they used to. DCL discounted just about every European cruise this Summer by about 30 % which was very helpful.
I just wonder with fuel shortages and food shortages in Europe how cruise lines will be affected. Our economy may get really bad, but Europe is much worse. I foresee a lot of instability in 2023. There will probably be some great deals for those willing to venture out.

Oh...totally agree...things are *bleak* in Europe right now....on nearly every front. They are going to have a rough go of it. They're getting hit from every direction. But you know....we're all connected.

The current exchange rate might get more Americans to Europe. The euro is at $1.05 now, which makes my upcoming trip to France a little cheaper than I had anticipated.

I was able to prebuy oil for 22-23 at 4.99 gallon here in NH. We have a 90% full tank now, so I'm relieved that we can get through until Dec 2023 with the gallons I bought. I'd been checking our fuel company website daily and it paid off. Never been so happy to spend $$ to keep warm.

Wow...remember going to Italy back in 2008....it was $1.58 then! We're hoping to make a trip to Europe next spring or fall...leaning towards Sicily. Have a great time in France....wonderful country :).

I know! I did a summer abroad in Europe in 2007 and the euro was around $1.35 and the British pound was about $2. The pound now is down to $1.25.

We have propane. A 1000 gal tank buried. it's about 2.60'gal right now. We generally only need to fill once per year.

Inflation is pretty bad in Europe too. I’m not expecting the exchange rate to make much of a difference. We’re on a cruise so at least food is included.
The war, Covid testing, and shrinking savings accounts are big deterrents for many people. There is pent up demand I would expect travel to be up, but nowhere near 2019 levels.

But we’re things really more expensive than at home? I was in London when the pound was 1.50
and the cost of meals was equivalent to any big city in the US. Even in Canada where are exchange rate is favorable I didn’t save any money.

They were twice as expensive in London due to the exchange rate. Prices looked about the same as you'd expect in a large city, but then you'd have to double that to get what we wound up paying in dollars.
I had estimated my hotel costs for my upcoming trip with a $1.10 euro to dollar rate, if it stays at $1.05 I'll save about $150 over my original estimates when I booked.

I found everything to be about equivalent. A burger at a resort in London might be 10 pounds in the US 18 dollars. It’s good you’re already booked. They’ll probably just raise rates to compensate. I know DCL sure as heck won’t lower their excursion prices on our cruise even if the dollar soars and the Danish krone collapse. LOL

Just got my bill today for my budget amount it went up from 25 dollars a month to 102 a month. Now the 25 was low last year because I had lots of credit in there. Have just over 500 dollars in credit now in there. My Akita will be happy this winter.

Prices have dropped here literally overnight. Yesterday the price was 5.30 and today it is 4.95…hoping that continues for a bit and then we will fill up. Ridiculous that I get excited when it goes “down” to $5.00 a gallon. Uggh…so not fun to spend money on this.

Yes, imagine we’re actually happy it’s $5 a gallon? 😬
