Here I go! I am finally making a committment to become healthier! I am a 46 year old mother of three young adults, I have the enthusiasim of a 20 year old but my body feels like I am in my 70's. My husband and I both feel like we spend most of our time talking about which joint on our body hurts or how tierd we are! I still have a long life ahead of me and I do not want to feel like I am about to go to a nursing home.:)

I have an autoimmune disease and for the first time in 20 years we have found a medicine that has alowed me to feel half way normal. I now want to work really hard to get as healthy as I can. I actually have hope that my mind and body might someday be in cinc with each other.

My plan for achieving better health is not complete but I will refine it as I go. My main goals right now are the following:

1.Loose Weight ( 25 pounds to start)
2.Increase my joint flexability
3.Build muscle strength

My plan so far is to do the following:

1.Eliminate soda from my diet
2.Eat breakfast everyday
3.Drink 100 ounces of water everyday
4.Watch my portion sizes and calories
5.Walk 3 or more times a week
6.Sart working on the exercise ball
7.Take a vitamines everyday

That is it so far. I am feeling excited about this and the support on this board!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Well, for my first day I did not do too badly.

I drank 98 ounces of water!:cool1:
Ate breakfast and took my vitamins.
Bought an exercise ball and actually tried some of the exercises.

I did not do too good on calories because I had a pretty big piece of birthday cake at my nieces birthday party. But I really watched my servings.

The big news is that I did not have one soda! Woo Hoo!:cheer2:
Tomorrow I will start keeping track of what I eat. Oh won't that be fun!:rolleyes1

Hi Heather! I'm a newbie to W.I.S.H too. Keep up the good work! You are on the right track. I think cutting those sodas is really going to help you! :cheer2:

I did not get a chance to write yesterday. It was presidents day and I was busy helping my friend with a scrapbooking project. I did really good though. I drank 100ounces of water and worked out with the ball. Yesterday morning I had lost one pound and this morning I dropped another. I know it is probobly water weight but weight is weight!

I am up to 64 ounces of water. I have a few more to go!:surfweb:
I am so happy with 2 pounds since all I have done is gain, gain, gain, gain!

Plgrn,
Thanks for the encouragement! It is now 4 days without any pop!
Hope you are doing well!

I am up to 4 Pounds!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
I haven't walked yet this week but I am working on the ball, and doing all the other parts of my plan!

Welcome Heather! Journaling is a great way to keep focused on your program. It also helps to read other journals so you know that others have the same challenges that you do. I know what you mean about the aches and pains, hubby and I are in our early 50's, so we do alot of moaning and groaning.

You're off to a good start! Keep posting and hang in there! Denise

Heather- it sounds like you are doing great! I know how hard it is to cut out soda, so way to go for having so much will power! Keep up the good work, and you will meet all of your goals and feel great! :cool1:

I have been so busy I have not had time to post. I have also not started walking. Hopefully I will start next week. I have however lost 6 pounds!!! :jumping1: I am sure it will slow down but I needed this jump start!:jumping1:

What I have done this week is to not snack unless it was carrots or other fresh veggies. I have not had soda and I have drank 100 or more ounces of water everyday. I have also eaten my dinners out of a cereal bowl and not a plate. So far it has gone very well! Also, I am taking s "Weight Conscious" Multi-vitamin everyday. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the encouragement Denise and Nicole. I really need it right now and appreciate it!:goodvibes

Heather- Congrats on the 6 lbs! That is amazing!! :cool1:
Just hang in there, and try to get that walking in whenever possible. Don't forget that you can do easy things in your everyday life that you can count towards your exercise goal, like parking at the end of the lot at work or the mall, and just getting out for 10 mins around the block, if that is all the time you can find. You are doing great, just don't give up! It sounds like you have really made some great progress already!

Welcome to WISH, Heather! I'm also 46 (47 in July) and I know exactly how you feel. I frequently say "You're as young as you feel & today I'm 73"

Looks like you're off to a GREAT start! I do WW and have for about 4 years. Still haven't made goal due to life interfering with my willpower. I, too have 'young adult' kids - all at home - DS20, DS17 and DD15.

Hoe you have a great week this week!

WE can do this!!

Well, I gained a pound over the weekend so I am back to a loss of 5. My weekend was full of all kinds of different things so it was hard to stay with my schedule. Today I woke up to my face and right leg swollen! My face has done this a lot but never my leg. If it is still bad tomorrow I will go to the doctor. I am sure it is just a part on the auto immune stuff. My doctor is leaning toward Lupus and this sure sounds like it. My head really aches from the swelling so I am not in a good mood. I took a np and got up and drank a sprite. I know I did that out of stress and frustration.

I better shape up and get back on track!\

Goldcupmom,
Thanks for the encouragement! It sounds like we have a lot in common.:)

How are you today, Heather? Is the swelling better?

I hope you are feeling better today! Hang in there, and take care of yourself!

:scared1: Prayers and pixie dust to you! I hope you are able to exercise again soon.

Are you hanging in there Heather? Hope you're feeling ok. :flower3:
