Actually, this thread was nothing more than a joke, which was completely making fun of the more serious tone fo the previous thread, and should not be taken seriously, nor should it be considered any more purposefully offensive than the original post of the previous thread.
What I said was that "it appears to be", and I maintain that. It was started by one of the more inflammatory posters in the other thread, hence my conclusion. Disagree with me if you want, but it was my perception I was talking about, and by the cardinal rule of relative truth, you must respect that opinion. :)

You're a generous and accepting person! I often feel ostricized and ridiculed for being a NonBeerDrinker.

If you're in WDW May19-27, let's get together for a oke and a smile!

I live in the area and have an AP, so I would be all for a Coke and a smile! Want to plan a meetup?

Thank you thank you for this thread!!
That prior thread was....well, you know.
We will be there on the 2nd and 3rd of June and look forward to meet all pagans and heathens! And since that Saturday is Gay Day at MK, we should be in excellent company! :cool1:

Well I'm pleased I was one of the more inflamatory posters on that thread.

Actually, I have a mini-meet planned on Sunday May 22 at 12pm in Tubi's Buffeteria in the Dolphin. If you're free, please drop in.

It's at 12pm, so it should be after church if you're so inclined

This thread cracks me up! :rotfl:

I was thinking about starting a thread calling all "THIN and BEAUTIFUL" people to meet me in the park in May. :rotfl2: But then I realized I don't even fit into that category!!! :teeth:

Oh well, it takes all kinds I guess.

You people are pretty sad.
Someone posts that they'd like to meet some other Christians in Disney World at the same time that they are going and it's open season to make fun of the OP.
What if the OP asked to find out if anyone with Shetland Sheep dogs were going to be there at a certain time with the hopes of enjoying some time with someone else who shared their interests in dogs and Disney?
Are those here with Pugs going to be offended?
Are those that hate dogs in favor of cats going to bad mouth the OP or make a new sarcastic thread title mocking the Sheltie lover?
Grow up.

THANK YOU!!!!!!! I couldn't agree more. I remember reading the other thread and I thought "aww, that's nice". How could *anyone* be offended by it? Now if the OP of that thread said "Gee, I hope we don't encounter any non-Christians in WDW" THAT would be offensive but a family (who seem nice by the sounds of them) want to meet like-minded people, perhaps to share their thoughts on their faith, and everyone's laughing at them? Hmmmm, who's the wrong-doer here I wonder.

For the record, I'm a non-practicing catholic.... we observe the occasional sacrament (christenings, first holy communion), other than that, we have a lot of lie-ins on Sundays :) Oh and my best friend is a muslim/jew/atheist/budhist [delete as appropriate]
:rotfl2:

P.S. I had, at one time, considered trying to arrange a meeting with other moms of babies (for 2 days my DH will be taking my older children to Seaworld and another day he's going to take them on IOA thrill rides). I thought it might be nice for my baby girl to meet another baby girl (or boy, it's all good!) but by the logic displayed on this thread, I guess a request like that would be offensive to moms of older kids or to women who have no kids. Who knew!!!

The OP of the other thread must be very hurt by a bunch of people laughing at her perfectly sweet non-threatening request :(

Thank you all! I sat quietly throughout that other post, as well as the sports one that mocked others for being uncomfortable/disagreeing with the 1st one. Even wondered if I should continue to come to these boards, as I watched no one close the thread and it grew in size (afterall, no future trips planned, just happy memories from our trip). Many of the posts were so mean-spirited in their defense of their religion (which seems like such an oxymoron to me), and others shocked me that people could be so ignorant.

When OP added this post, I neither stated my religious/spiritual beliefs nor criticized the other posts. I just wrote a brief thanks for being open/welcoming. Religion, politics, and money I believe are topics left off these boards (except for $$ things pertaining to trip costs).

So thanks for your voices, your humor, your tolerance, your love of WDW and DL, your diversitiy, and I'm still here. Flame away, I can take it (I think).

Keep an open mind; some of those gay people will be Christians (and Hindu, and etc... etc... etc...) too. :)

I think the whole other thread was just odd...why would anyone want to meet up with a total stranger just because they share one trait? I can understand it if the person came from a country were there were very few Christians and perhaps they saw the trip as an opportunity to meet up with others more like them...or if they wanted to have a Bible Study while on vacation - that would make sense. But just to take precious time out of your vacation to meet up with and converse with a complete stranger for no reason at all except to talk religion is , well, odd. Especially when you don't know anything else about them.

But this is America folks, and to each his/her own -

Umm..I imagine that is why they have a Gay day at a Dis park, or why another person is having a meet to meet Disers at the Dolphin ( do we need to RSVP for that? No idea if we will be available, since we are already meeting someone else that day). They all have something in common. The op of the other post, was looking to meet people with something in common. I meet people for all different reasons..but they are all because of something we have in common.

We will be making a day trip to the F&GF Festival this Saturday (and for AP Preview of Soarin'). For the record, it will be three Catholics in full communion (my DD8 made First Communion last week), one Baptist in wheelchair (my elderly mother), and one nonChurchgoer that is probably the best person among us (my brother). His precise beliefs are unknown - it really hasn't come up, eapecially not during any Disney trips.

We do love the Candlelight Processional though, and even find it spiritually uplifting. But that's months away

There's Night Of Joy weekend...any Christians wanting to be surrounded by other Christians might enjoy that. I think it's sometime in Sept. , isn't it?

This thread is not a helpful trip planning thread and I'm going to close it now.
