Heath Ledger has passed away :MEMORIAL PICS POSTED

The TMZ guy said that Mary Kate did not own the apartment and that this was a rumor.

ETA: Sorry, Karen I didn't read all the way through the thread and I've posted some info that you already posted.

Other news have said that she did NOT own it as well. I think I heard that it got started when her security showed up at the bldg. at the same time as 911.

They apparently have some connection though. She was on his cell-phone's speed-dial.

The news has been reporting that the Masseuse called Mary Kate Olsen BEFORE calling 911. Called her twice. The news talk shows were all over this info last night.
I just view that as an example of the human tendency to panic in crisis. People often do not do the right thing instantly in a crisis. Many many people have brain freeze in crises. Heck, once my MIL's house caught on fire, she picked up the phone, carried it over to the window, threw it out the window and yelled "FIRE" at the phone lying on the ground.

I've heard that Mary Kate's bodyguard knew CPR and that's why they tried to reach her..

A quick google showed up the same info. Who knows what is really true though.

They said that she called Olsen 2 times. #1 to tell her what was going on. The second time to let her know she was calling 911.

One report said this all happened within a "couple" of minutes. Another report said within 10 minutes.

Either way, I don't understand-why would you call someone else rather than calling 911 first:confused3 If the 10 minute time frame is right--That would be a VERY long time to wait, IMO. A man is lying unresponsive for goodness sake. RU just standing there staring at him?

This is my guess, too. Maybe the masseuse thought the bodyguard could get there faster than 911.

Denae

I guess-- It justs seems weird to me. Maybe its the nurse in me, but I think I would call 911 first.

At work I would never call a family first. Heck I usually don't even call the Dr. first if someone is unresponsive.

from what I've heard the masseuse was friends with M-K's bodyguard who is an EMT and she knew he was around the block so they called him first and then 911. It is being reported that the bodyguard and 911 got there at the same time.

There is speculation on some of the gossip sites that he wasn't 'gone' when they 1st called and were unsure if they should get police involved so they called the bodyguard. On his advice or as the situation changed they called 911.

I've heard that same story as well and it's BS. The Massage Therapist is legally required to be trained in CPR in NYC. The only thing that makes sense to me is that she already knew HL was dead, and was trying to get hold of family before calling 911.

I don't remember where I read it, they think that HL died earlier then first thought. There's some suspicion that the "snoring" the maid heard was in fact a death rattle, which would make a lot of sense if his breathing was compromised from illness and meds.

This whole thing is so horribly sad I just can't stand it.

ITA...I find it so puzzling why they would phone someone else when they found him---whether the person knew CPR or not-my first instinct would be 9-1-1

I also wondered what on earth did they do while waiting:confused3
It's all just so very sad.

It is sad, a very promising Actor lost his life, perhaps, by a mistake he made, with the medications.:guilty: It doesn't matter WHO CALLED WHO, its sad that he died.

The following is a good article written by Star Jones.

Reporting on the Dead
Posted January 24, 2008 | 05:36 PM (EST)

Since we learned of actor Heath Ledger's untimely death on Tuesday afternoon, the basic fact is that until additional tests have been conducted, the autopsy is incomplete and inconclusive as to why this 28-year-old man died. That's what we know.

Let's get to what we don't know: his death was a tragic accident, or something to the contrary. Until we know for sure, I think the media should just shut their mouths and stop all the speculation that's been running rampant.

This man has a two-year-old daughter. His family is going through the worst time in their lives. Their hearts are broken, they're numb, they can't understand what's going on right now. Michelle Williams is trying to figure out how to explain to their little girl that she will never see her daddy again. It's heartbreaking, tragic, and it's being used to fuel our never ceasing desire to eavesdrop on the lives of others.

Please let them grieve in privacy and dignity for a few days at least for goodness sake. As far as I'm aware, Heath Ledger never did anything but conduct himself in the most respectful and charismatic way. He gave us exactly what we asked of him -- good entertainment and our $12 worth when we sat our butts in the seats of a movie theater. He made his living in the entertainment business, but he purposely chose not to make his life that way. He was by all accounts a normal guy in every way, a regular dad who was often photographed walking down the streets of Manhattan or Brooklyn with his daugther, Matilda.

The scene outside his apartment on the night Ledger died made me sick to my stomach. People gawking and waiting around for a body bag to be removed. I have been at similar scenes in my work as an assistant district attorney. And let me tell you, if you don't have to be there, you wouldn't want to be. It's morbid. Someone who was loved is in that bag... and trust me it takes more than a minute to get used to that.

And when actress Michelle Williams and her daughter arrived home in Brooklyn, the scene was just as bad. Instead of being allowed to enter her home in privacy, she had to endure the flashbulbs of the paparazzi waiting to snap the money shot. How she explained that to her child through her grief is something I hope never to experience.

Might I suggest that we in the media, instead of reporting on the dead based on gossip, rumor, innuendo and anonymous sources, choose to honor this man's memory based on his talent and the good taste we all should be exercising. My heart goes out to the family of Heath Ledger.

I am all for "learning experiences," but man, this is over the top.

And for those who give her support and/or agree with her... What - is this like a clique thing? :confused3

 I couldn't help but laugh when I saw who was mentioning the "clique thing".

No, it's not BTW.

I have had insomnia and took a mild barbituate for a couple of nights, then I was good to go. Heath Ledger also hasn't been looking well lately. He's looked alot like Owen Wilson did last year, and he was oh what was it? Hooked on drugs.

Not lookin' good:

Honestly I don't know how you can make a judgment on his appearance from that picture. You see the top of his head. Anyway, he has been flying back and forth to London for his latest movie role. I don't know about you, but I suffer terribly from jet lag. From what I have read, he has recently traveled to Australia as well. I know how I feel/look after one transatlantic trip. He was doing multiple. Plus, the character he is playing in his latest film could attribute to his appearance. And Heath in his real life has always leaned to the bohemian lifestyle. But, I guess people will see want they want to see.

That article by Star Jones is wonderful. It sums everything up in a very professional and dignified manner.

Howdy rie'smom, no problem, happens to the best of us!! :goodvibes:

I agree! How can you tell anything from that picture, he's looking DOWN! How many hours was it since his last transatlantic trip? How many hours since he had just been in costume for his role? What do you know about this picture? Absolutely nothing.

I have pictures of myself and my family coming back from Sydney to Boston, he was coming six hours further if he was visiting family in Australia.... I wouldn't post WHAT I looked like when I got off those flights or even 36 hours after I got off those flights... oh, and I'm scheduling another.... I just don't get it, why on earth are people so willing to go after the druggie theory with such veracity... The rest of his life does not indicate he was of that lifestyle.

I feel dreadful for the poor man's family, haven't they been through enough?

I totally agree with what Star Jones said in the article above....

Everything Star Jones said in that article is what I told a coworker today. Good for her for writing that. Every single word of it is true.

The stupid media is waiting like vultures, practically foaming at the mouth, wishing and hoping this poor guy was a drug addict or killed himself, because tagedy sells and they want the best magazine cover possible. It's sick and Karma is a witch.

I agree! The media speculation on all of this has just been crazy. I just feel really heartsick for his family and daughter.

Why laugh that I mentioned the 'clique thing?' That seems so 7th grade and passive aggressive to me.

:confused3
