For someone who owns a WH townhome (or knows pools)....

What is it fair to expect the thermostat to be set at for the pool heater? We had some issues last year (that did get worked out) about pool heat.

Last year it seemed that the pool had a timer and that the heat was on for a 12 hour stretch during each 24 hours period. Once we were able to communicate when during the day we preferred to swim, and the timer was set accordingly everything was fine.

We are staying at the same place this year and I just emailed our pool heat timing request and it sounds like they've switched to a thermostat controlled system? I guess it's supposed to maintain a constant temp around the clock.

Is there a standard temp that pool thermostats are set at for Florida in the winter? We'll be there in a week and a half. Thanks

found this online- just happened to be searching for info as I am unhappy about how cold our condo pool is

Water Temperature A Sore Spot For Pool Operators
Pool temperature is one of the biggest sore spots for pool operators.

The answer is simple. If you are seeking repeat business, heat the pool at to a temperature the patrons will enjoy.

My recommendations are as follows: ''competitive swimming'' - the swim coach should determine the temperature ''hotels and resorts'' - 84 to 86 degrees is an ideal range ''athletic clubs or YMCAs'' - it depends on who they are catering to. If they cater to lap swimmers, 82 degrees is a reasonable temperature. For casual swimmers, near 84 degrees is better. Warmer than 84 degrees will be too warm for lap swimmers

The woman we are renting from says that the thermostat is set at 75. I'm sure whether that feels warm is relative to what the outdoor temp is. Anyone have any thoughts on whether that is reasonable? It's obviously not at the 84-86 resort range cited in the other post.

Splash pool wont be to bad to heat,,unlike the Disney Deluxe resorts(last Feb we stayed at the Poly, they said they heat the pool to 80...My Grandkids didnt go in the whole time it was so cold...but maybe I have unreasonable expectations for $350.00 per night

No, you have prefectly reasonalbe expections. Disney tends to "underdeliver" at those Deluxe resorts assuming that you will be happy with "pretty" and "location" (And it works, they sell those places out!)

75F is really really cold, the common temp among owners seems to be between 85 and 88.

I agree! I wouldn't even call 75 heated. I guess maybe it would be if you were here in Nova Scotia  . We like the pool heat above 85. :thumbsup2

Hi Carol, I agree, because I myself have payed those for both "pretty" and "location: since 1976..(we stayed ay the CR than,it was so much fun)..but I must say that Disney has finally priced me out..I just cant justify the cost for the service anymore...but the memories will always remain..

ours at wh 2 years ago was so HOT.. It burned my face to go under water:mad:
