Heat Transfer Vinyl

We are looking at making some shirts using Heat Transfer Vinyl. I am planning on cutting out designs/phrases from my cricut and attaching them to T-shirts and possibly sweatpants. Has anyone tried this stuff before? Does it last better than iron-on sheets (from printer, etc.)?

I was just curious if anyone has any tips for us.
