Heat, Humidity, and Our Favorite Disney Dog Was a Thug! LINK TO NEW PTR!!

I really should be working but I have spent the entire day reading up on your trip report! I love it!! I am also curious to see what you do with all of those left over snack credits!! Cannot wait to read the cruise portion of the TR! :thumbsup2:cool1:

What a shame about Pocahontas, at least Willow didn't realise :)

I can't wait to hear what snacks you bought :goodvibes

Another lovely Willow in a pretty dress! Does she always wear princess dresses at home? Charlotte is just getting into dressing up and has been wearing princess shoes and a crown everywhere we do since Christmas.

I always think about the 1900 Park Fare dinner as I think it would be fun to meet those characters but I just never can make time for it. We had breakfast there once and it was good, but not spectacular. Someday we will do dinner there I am sure.

That darn deluxe dining plan, so much fun but there are so many snacks! It is fun to get all those treats to take home though.

Well I finally got caught up on your TR!!
Love it so far!!
Love all your pics, and your DD's selfies and random pics!

And I just love her new short hair! So cute!
Can't wait to hear more, and can't wait till you get to the cruise part!!!

So this was your first GF visit!!?? :thumbsup2 And you liked it? What about an actual stay there? It's quite beautiful, and believe it or not, it's a very relaxing. Willow looked so very cute in her evening gown. Sorry the "meal" wasn't so grand, but at least Willow got to see the characters. I've heard mixed reviews on the dinner there, so kinda of glad we didn't make ressies for June.

Always looking forward to more pics and reviews!
Heather

oh my gosh! how beautiful is willow in her dress?!? love it!
Aww - thanks!!! :goodvibes

isn't the Grand Floridian so gorgeous? we were seriously impressed when we went. i wonder what the rooms are like. maybe just once i'd like to stay there for a night.....
It really is beautiful. I did not expect to like it as much as I did. It is a lovely atmosphere - would love to spend more time there!

lady tremaine and the step sisters look fun. drizella's face is hilarious!
They are definitely funny! We have always missed them in the parks, so it was fun to get the chance to interact with them - albeit very briefly.

The Pocahontas pics are adorable! I'm fairly certain that Pocahontas is into nature and such and wouldn't be afraid of a few ant bites. :confused3 We've been 50/50 with our Pocahontas experiences.
It was a pretty funny little meet-and-greet. ;)

Yay Chip and Dale! They make everything better.
We always love them, of course; but every time we saw them this trip (which was a lot), they were in rare form. :woohoo:

I'd have given up too, AK is the hottest place on the planet.
The AK heat this year didn't feel any worse than the other parks for us - which was a change. I think we felt like we'd come to do what we wanted and couldn't quite muster up the energy to go out to meet Rafiki. We were really just ready to get on that ship, I think!

Oh 1900 Park Fare. The food is just not good. We've had fun at dinner there, but I'm not too sad about sticking to breakfast these days. Willow looks adorable in her wedding dress though. And your meal pic is great! Love the sassy hands on hips poses.
The food really was dreadful. :rotfl2: But I'm glad we gave it a try. At least it got me into the GF for the first time! :thumbsup2

I'm on pins and needles to hear if you enjoyed your trip to DTD! If you ever actually made it.....:rotfl2:
It's hard to imagine us actually getting there, isn't it????

You have one cute little girl on your hands! No matter what she wears!
Thank you!!! :goodvibes

Okay, so we know that Willow will make a beautiful bride. :lmao: I don't blame her for leaving the veal behind, it sure was too hot for it.
:rotfl2: She really likes to dress the part!!!

And the character interaction in the photos looks so fun. Sorry they were so rushed and sorry about the chef who was a bit stunned by the word gluten. :rotfl2:
It was definitely an amusing dining experience. I'm glad we were on the DxDDP; I didn't think about how much I was paying for that slop. :rotfl2:

22 snack credits left? :scared1: I wonder what all you got at DTD. :goodvibes
Next time, we will leverage out SCs better and use tons of them for frozen drinks and such. That was a big mistake on my part.

Willow's dress is just right for the GF! Sorry that the food was so awful but the characters look really fun!
Thanks Jill! I'm glad we did 1900 - it was fun to meet the characters. :thumbsup2

All caught up again! You did a lot in your AK morning. Pocahontas worried about ants?! :lmao:
We had a great time at AK! Pocahontas was funny.

Too bad your last character meal had to be disappointing. We have never done a meal at GF. Guessing that isn't a bad thing. ;) Though I have found the Stepsisters to be highly entertaining in the MK.
The food was awful, but it was still fun to do - Willow enjoyed meeting Charming and everyone else, and it was fun to see the step family in action. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to hearing about your cruise portion of this trip, and to your DL getaway!
Me too! Not long until we board the ship at this point. :woohoo:

In Pocahontas' defense ( not that she should break character ;) ) we had AWFUL fire ants during that time period when you were here Any experience with that ?? They're called Fire Ants for a reason :scared: no matter how hard I tried every time I went outside with the dogs or the horse I ended up with bites you don't even feel them until too late ...SO glad you did not encounter them
We did not encounter them thankfully. And I'll venture to say that, if they were in the vicinity, they were ONLY interested in Pocahontas because no one else was noticing them. :confused3  Seriously - she was funny; she was like a nice college kid who wanted to be texting her friends rather than standing around with Disney nuts. It was funny.

1900 Park Of course she did look just like a bride, so gorgeous :thumbsup2 Nice pics of the 2 of you :)

I think you had the same server I did in Sept It was so bad Anastasia ( I think ) went over to him and got him to come back to my table I did have a blast with the characters, food not the best not the worse, ( or should that be worst ? I always get that confused ) probably a " one and done" dinner experience for me
Yep - "one and done" for us too. :thumbsup2

Don't feel like you abandoned my thread when you get there you'll see I have been lax myself :hourglass
Good!!! It will be easier for me to catch up! :rotfl2: I'm hoping to catch up with everyone this weekend, but of course, we are celebrating Willow's birthday on Saturday and Sunday evenings, so….. I will do my best!

Now tell us about all those snack credits and next time you are here and find yourselves in that position again just give me a shout and I will help you use them up...:rotfl:...hey what are friends for ?????
 I will let you know!!!! :rotfl2:

How odd about Pochahontas, she even looks a little off? She seems like she’s maybe used to being a friend of someone else? You can never go wrong with Chip N’ Dale, they are always so entertaining.
:confused3 Maybe! I had a much easier time imagining her texting or Instagramming than BEING Pocahontas. It was really amusing. ;)

Glad Willow liked EE so much. We didn’t even make it over to AK this past trip. We had scheduled it for the afternoon after the kids races but it was hot and we decided to scrap it and stay at the hotel and swim. It was definitely the better choice, it was wonderful to sit by the pool and enjoy the warm sunshine. I feel like I had forgotten what the sun felt like!
Relaxing on vacation is a VERY GOOD THING!!!

How exciting that you are going to DL in a week. I hope Willow is surprised; the surprise is almost as much fun as the trip. I would love to go to DL, I think I need to spend some time on the DL board for “research purposes”.
I can't believe the trip is so close! I hope Willow is surprised too. I really think I will be able to throw her off the track by having a little "surprise movie night" with her BFF along with birthday cake and everything on Saturday night. :woohoo:

You’re funny about the birds! My husband hates birds too and we always tease him about it.
GAH!! They're terrifying!!!! :scared1:

Wow! That was some black sky over the GF. I love the step family. I think it would be so much fun to be one of them. I could do them so much easier than being one of the princesses and having to be nice and sweet all the time! :rotfl: I will agree that the food at 1900 is nothing to write home about, it’s all about the characters here.
They are definitely entertaining! Next time, we will look for them in the MK though. :thumbsup2

I really should be working but I have spent the entire day reading up on your trip report! I love it!! I am also curious to see what you do with all of those left over snack credits!! Cannot wait to read the cruise portion of the TR! :thumbsup2:cool1:
Wow - thank you so much for taking the time to read! I'm super-excited to get on with the cruise! Soon!!!!

What a shame about Pocahontas, at least Willow didn't realise :)

I can't wait to hear what snacks you bought :goodvibes
Yeah, Willow was clueless, so I was able to find it amusing.

Another lovely Willow in a pretty dress! Does she always wear princess dresses at home? Charlotte is just getting into dressing up and has been wearing princess shoes and a crown everywhere we do since Christmas.
Oh, how cute that Charlotte is starting to get into the princess dress-up! It's so much fun. Willow used to wear princess dresses a lot and just about everywhere when she was littler. She doesn't wear them much anymore except at WDW, DLR and DCL and then sometimes to play. These times go by so fast.

I always think about the 1900 Park Fare dinner as I think it would be fun to meet those characters but I just never can make time for it. We had breakfast there once and it was good, but not spectacular. Someday we will do dinner there I am sure.
It truly was the worst food we had all trip. But it is fun to meet those characters. Next time, I'll make more of an effort to find the step family in MK. ::yes::

That darn deluxe dining plan, so much fun but there are so many snacks! It is fun to get all those treats to take home though.
I was definitely a DDP novice. Next time, I will make sure that we are getting lots of yummy frozen drinks with this SCs throughout the trip. :thumbsup2

Well I finally got caught up on your TR!!
Love it so far!!
Love all your pics, and your DD's selfies and random pics!
Thanks!!! :goodvibes

And I just love her new short hair! So cute!
Can't wait to hear more, and can't wait till you get to the cruise part!!!
She really loves the hair cut too - I think it's a lot easier for her.

I can't wait to get to the cruise either. Just another two updates, I think, and we'll be getting ready to board the ship! :woohoo:

I was totally impressed with the GF - very beautiful. If I come into some unexpected money, I would definitely stay there too! :rotfl2:

Yeah, the 1900 food was pretty awful. It was a fun time though. Of course!

Some Last WDW Shopping

After dinner, we headed out of the GF and to the bus stop, still marveling at the beauty of the GF.

We waited 5 minutes for a DTD bus.

We arrived at DTD a little after 6:30.

As I mentioned before, we had never been to DTD before! Isn’t that weird? It was crowded there though, and hot. We had some specific things that we wanted to get, and we just weren’t really in the mood to fight the crowds to do any more than those specific things. Our first stop was for Christmas tree ornaments - we get two ornaments every time we go on a Disney trip - we each pick one. ;)

Next up was Goofy’s Candy Company to use some of those 22 snack credits!

Our basket was pretty full!

From there, we went to Babycakes to get some gluten-free cupcakes to take on the cruise.

See how crowded it was?

Now laden down with snacks, hot, tired, and feeling the crowds, we just had no desire to do any fun shopping. :( We wanted to get back to the resort - we weren’t grumpy or anything (for a change!) but just ready to be out of there. Unfortunately, this was the one time we didn’t have good transportation luck. We waited endlessly for a bus. I think we actually ended up getting a cab back to the BWI.

Willow enjoyed an Ariel cookie and Stacey, of course!

I packed. We had finally received some information about our cruise transportation, so I knew that our luggage was set to be picked up at 8:00 the next morning. I got all but the last-minute stuff done. Phew!

And, after all that candy and cupcake shopping, we STILL had 5 snack credits left! :scared1:

Willow took some pics this evening too:

Great job dumping those snack credits at Goofy's. Some of my favorite treats are in that store like the make your own pretzels. :thumbsup2

Sorry your dining experience at 1900 PF wasn't better. I suppose the bright side is that Lady Tremaine wasn't a thug! I love how they've perfected the signatures. Well done. Willow was adorable in her little white gown. ;)

When you are at Café Orleans you have to try the pomme frites. They are awesome!!!

I hear you, it is no fun to shop when it is hot and crowded. Looks like you did get some fun snacks to take along on the cruise. How did the cupcakes fare? No smooshing?

Gosh, you leave in under a week!! Are you packed yet? ;)

Willow fits so perfectly into the Grand! :thumbsup2

Sorry DTD was so packed, but you should give that place a second chance, esp. since you found Goofy's and WPE is right across the street. ;) You really need to check out the food there too. :lmao:

Love the Christmas ornament tradition! How neat. And your loot at Goofy's is awesome. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to hear about your cruise days - we are fairly even up time-wise. :goodvibes

I have been asked to send a very special little girl this message from all her friends at WDW....they voted and one character was nominated to be the spokesperson (? :lmao: ) so here it is from Lake Buena Vista, FL

Happy Birthday Princess Willow !! Come back and see us when you can We LOVE you !!!!!!

not a thug ! :rolleyes1

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLOW! I love the pictures of your bling in your mom's last update! Very princessy!

That basket of snacks looks delicious! We did the regular dining plan this time, but we had done deluxe the last time. Believe it or not, I sort of missed all those snack credits on this trip (although I admit we didn't use them all the last time and wasted a couple). We still have not made it into goofy's candy company. There's a lot down there to see!

That's funny--I think I just posted that same Lego seven dwarves picture! I loved those Legos! My husband is a Lego addict so of course we always look at those huge sculptures.

Great job dumping those snack credits at Goofy's. Some of my favorite treats are in that store like the make your own pretzels. :thumbsup2
Thanks! We had to do something with them!

Sorry your dining experience at 1900 PF wasn't better. I suppose the bright side is that Lady Tremaine wasn't a thug! I love how they've perfected the signatures. Well done. Willow was adorable in her little white gown. ;)
The food was pretty nasty, but we had a fun time - how could we not, it was a character meal! :thumbsup2 The signature are just amazing, aren't they?

When you are at Café Orleans you have to try the pomme frites. They are awesome!!!
We will absolutely be ordering the pommes frites. I was actually thinking that we might just order the gumbo, the pommes frites and a salad to share. What do you think???

I hear you, it is no fun to shop when it is hot and crowded. Looks like you did get some fun snacks to take along on the cruise. How did the cupcakes fare? No smooshing?
They boxed the cupcakes up really well, so they survived nicely. Of course, that was probably largely because they were so dense and hard…….

Gosh, you leave in under a week!! Are you packed yet? ;)
Haven't packed a thing! :scared1: Can't drag out the suitcases until Willow knows about the trip. So excited for Sunday when I can finally spill the beans!!!!!

Willow fits so perfectly into the Grand! :thumbsup2
She really did dress for the occasion on that night, didn't she?

Sorry DTD was so packed, but you should give that place a second chance, esp. since you found Goofy's and WPE is right across the street. ;) You really need to check out the food there too. :lmao:
We will definitely return to DTD. And I will absolutely make sure we eat at WPE one day! I'm sure all I have to do in there is mention you and Tom, and we'll be treated like royalty!!! :rotfl2:

Love the Christmas ornament tradition! How neat. And your loot at Goofy's is awesome. :thumbsup2
I think it won't be long until our tree sports nothing but Disney ornaments.

Can't wait to hear about your cruise days - we are fairly even up time-wise. :goodvibes
I'm going to be caught up with you soon! I am definitely going to get us on the Fantasy before we leave for DLR.

Awesome update! :)
Thanks!!! :goodvibes

Happy Birthday, Princess Willow! I hope your day is extra special!

I saw these two posts on my phone earlier today from you, Ruthie and Karin, and you brought a tear to my eye. How very sweet of both of you to think to wish Willow a happy birthday and to post the cute Disney pictures.

I showed her the posts tonight, and she was so excited. Thank you so much!

Happy Birthday Willow!
Thanks so much, Jill!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILLOW! I love the pictures of your bling in your mom's last update! Very princessy!
Thank you so much! Willow was so excited to have so many birthday wishes!

I have learned my lesson - we will make MUCH better use of SCs next time; lots of refreshing frozen beverages for us! :thumbsup2

That's funny--I think I just posted that same Lego seven dwarves picture! I loved those Legos! My husband is a Lego addict so of course we always look at those huge sculptures.
 It's impossible not to take pics of things like that, isn't it?

Reading your post makes me want to go to Disney even more now. We are planning a trip this summer to take the kids to Disney for the first time. I have never been there myself so it will also be a first for me, as well. I love the photos of you and your daughter. It looks like you had an amazing time. It looks absolutely amazing. I heard that they built the buildings 1/3 smaller than what a normal sized building is so that people feel larger while they are there compared to the normal world. It amazes me that they were able to build such an amazing place.
Oh, I hope you and your kids get to go. There is nothing like Disney to take you away from reality and allow you to just have fun together. Thanks so much for reading my report and commenting. I hope you will stick around for our cruise!
