I have been lurking on this board for the past couple months planning our third Disneyland vacation. We leave May 3rd and are staying at the CCI.

I want to thank everyone here profusely for all of the advice they have posted. My family will benefit in so many ways next week.

I do have one question/concern at the moment. It only dawned on me yesterday that we will be there over Cinco de Mayo. Eep! That was not even on my radar! Does anyone have an inkling how much that might affect crowds on Thurs - Sunday? We are flying home on Tues. I assume this holiday is widely celebrated in Southern California. Is it something folks would go to DL for? Do any schools have time off for this?

I'm just trying to manage our expectations for crowds. Here we thought we were golden in going after Spring Break but before the POTC thing and Grad nights.

Thanks in advance for any insight. :wizard:

Cinco de Mayo is a Saturday this year. Schools do not celebrate this as a day off. There is usually celebrating at parks, come community events, and mexican restaurants. I doubt it would affect DL at all.

Thank you so much for the reassurance! I had called the Hojo to check on an entertainment rate for our trip and they mentioned the festival as a factor and called it a "Holiday Weekend". I think that's what scared me, LOL! I'm sure it was also a ploy to keep the room rates higher . . . For the record in-house reservations quoted me $142 for Thurs thru Sat nights and $54 for Sun and Mon.

Get A Tamale!!! The Tamales at the CA are so huge and the best tasting ever...enjoy! They only have them during the holidays and Cinco De Mayo. They are two meals for me, :rotfl: :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 .:tink:

I was there for Cinco last year. It was a great weekend. The weather was warm and the crowds were low. I was there with two other women. We managed to do everything we wanted in two days (Friday and Saturday). On Cinco Friday we had dinner at Tortilla Joes in DTD. One of the girls is hispanic and wanted to celebrate. They had live music and were handing out blinky jewelry. I dont think it impacted the crowds at the park at all.

Wow - I am so glad I asked. One less thing to worry about! Thanks everyone!
