Heart Patient

We went in July with FIL who had open heart surgery in Sept. We took it real easy, but he actually was better by the end of the week because he walked a whole lot more than he had in a while and didn't even realize how much ground he was covering.

I have one question both times we went b4 we did not ride the POTC or HM could he possiblly do these ride..... I have no clue what they are like... I read where children under 2 are doing HM....

I would think these would be great choices for him. POTC is a boat ride with a couple of small drops in the dark. HM has a slow moving car (doom buggy) which moves you through the ride. Both are fun, relying on atmosphere, music and great imagineering rather than thrills.

My sister has a number of congential heart problems and a pace maker. She went on EVERYTHING. And walked around fine. It really depends on the person. Some people recover with no problem and can do everything that they used to.

Open heart surgery and a heart attack can be different. My dad had open heart surgery June 05 and we went Oct/Nov 05. His surgery fixed all of his problems and he could ride anything. I refused to let him ride Mission Space however. His cardiologist said he was cured and he has no restrictions. He even is certified to scuba dive now.
Make sure to check with his doc before you go. All of the rides have warnings not to ride if you have heart problems posted.

I'm a nurse in a cardiac unit and I wouldn't even begin to know what advice to give you. One, I'm not a doctor and Two, I don't know the patient's history.

I'm going to give you the best advice you're going to get: Talk to your cardiologist.
